"Had a great stay!"
Breakfast was great, room was great. The front desk staff was not real helpful whenwe checked in; we asked about nearby restaurants. I would like to get some kind of receipt. Even if it said we didn't owe anything. You get no receipt if you book online.

"Safe, clean, comfortable."
We stayed with our grandkids, and we felt like it was a safe neighborhood, and the hotel had guests ranging from families and business types as well. The Wi-fi worked well. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean, and larger than "sleep and travel" types of places. Breakfast was not free, but they did have room service and fair prices for certain items. We paid more going out to eat, honestly. The times on the menu are not consistent with what the front desk stated, so double check. They do have a Starbucks station in the lobby. Our only disappointment was that the tub was dirty (as if it were snaked and/or plunged earlier and no one cleaned it afterward) so we asked for someone to come in and clean it. They were very apologetic. Based on the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel, it seemed like an honest mistake.

"The positive reviews were right"
We found this hotel to be friendly, clean, and welcoming. Everything worked well and beds were very comfortable. The full breakfast is a nice extra, with a spacious and appealing seating area. The atmosphere is relaxed, staff very friendly and helpful, and it was QUIET—no discernible traffic noise. The hotel had everything we could possibly want in an overnight stop. One "plus" worth mentioning is its proximity to the excellent Sahm's Bar and Grill, only a short walk. Our first night's experience was so satisfying that we booked a second night for our return trip.

"Great place to stay!"
I have stayed at this hotel twice. The first time was a self-imposed retreat. My suite was small, but perfect for my purpose. I loved that I could watch TV in a room without a bed. The second stay was in a very large suite on the top floor. It had 15' ceilings and was huge! #At least to me# The location suited the purposes of my husband and my activities for the weekend. We were treated well by the friendly staff, and the room was very clean. I love it that they use Bath and Body products in the bathroom and not some generic brand. Even though this hotel is only 40 minutes from my home, I will be staying again. The closeness to Hamilton Commons shopping area is a plus.

Most area hotels are located close to the city center, and many are connected to both Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis Convention Center via the Skywalk enclosed pedestrian connectors. During your stay in downtown Indianapolis, you will find the city center pleasantly packed with retail, restaurants, and cultural entertainment, voted one of the best downtown areas in the U.S.

Access to the downtown business and financial districts via IndyGo city bus is provided on a regular basis from the airport and other points within the city. Once guests have arrived in the city core, a car may prove unnecessary due to the proximity to many attractions. While bus service does connect to a number of venues citywide, a shuttle offers further connections from the downtown area to several nearby cities.

Lodging and hotel price points are average for a medium-sized city in the Midwest, with a broad range from affordable value-priced stays to some fairly extravagant downtown suites. There are several options near the airport, again with a broad range, and several hotels located on Interstate 465 as it circles the city. Such locations may prove appropriate for guests visiting addresses outside the city center, in which case a rental car may be advisable.

    What to See

The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Monument Circle is a touching tribute to Indiana's military members and a breathtaking sight you won't want to miss. Built between 1888 and 1901, it has the distinction of being the largest monument of its kind in the United States built to honor everyday soldiers. This impressive limestone obelisk topped by a bronze statue stands 284 feet tall. Since 1962, the monument has been decorated with strings of lights every holiday season. Next, stop at the remarkable Indiana War Memorial. Designed to resemble one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Tomb of Mausolus, this magnificent memorial contains the Indiana War Memorial Museum. And no trip to Indianapolis would be complete without a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500 as well as the Brickyard 400, races that attract huge throngs of spectators every year. It is the largest spectator facility in the world. Even if you're not a fan of racing, this iconic Indianapolis landmark and the accompanying Hall of Fame Museum are definitely worth seeing.

    What to Do

There are plenty of great ways to stay active in Indianapolis. You'll find a number of walking and bicycle tours that will take you to all of the city's major sights. You can also walk or ride your bicycle along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, an eight-mile urban bike and pedestrian path that connects five of the city's various districts. This amazing path offers access to a number of Indianapolis attractions, including museums, restaurants, shops, and Lucas Oil Stadium. Get back to nature with a hike in the city's gorgeous Eagle Creek Park. Just minutes from downtown, this massive city park includes about 10 miles of nature trails, where you might spot deer and other wildlife, and Eagle Creek Park Marina, where you can take a boat, a kayak, or a canoe out on the water. The scenic White River State Park is also a fantastic place for a bike ride or a run. Located on the banks of the White River in downtown Indianapolis, it's a popular place for people to enjoy the great outdoors.

While you're there, you should check out the many cultural attractions in the park. Take time to admire all of the live animals in the various habitats found at the Indianapolis Zoo. Children and adults alike will delight to see elephants, tigers, giraffes, orangutans, dolphins, and the many other exotic animals that call the zoo home. Next, visit the Indiana State Museum, also located within the White River State Park. Inside, you'll find all sorts of exhibits relating to the fields of science, history, and art. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you're all tired out from riding bicycles or touring the cultural attractions, the White River State Park is also a wonderful place to just relax. You could sit in the shade or enjoy a picnic on the grass with friends.

    When to Go

There's no bad time to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana. The city sees a lot of visitors during the summer months, when temperatures hover in the 80s and school is no longer in session. This is the most popular time of year for families to go on family vacations, and the many sporting events that Indianapolis hosts in the summer make the city a favorite with Hoosiers and non-Hoosiers alike. The Indianapolis 500 takes place over Memorial Day weekend each year, and if you're a racing fan, this is definitely the time to visit. Just be aware that Indianapolis hotels, especially hotels in downtown Indianapolis, will fill up quickly for this event, so don't wait until the last moment to book your accommodations online. Fewer people choose to visit Indianapolis during the winter, when colder temperatures and snow could put a damper on vacations. However, Monument Circle is a dazzling spectacle during the holiday season, when the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument is decorated with sparkling lights like a giant limestone-and-bronze Christmas tree. Due to the decrease in tourism, the winter is a great time to find savings on Indianapolis hotels. Downtown Indianapolis is also the perfect place to do some holiday shopping. Mild temperatures and smaller crowds make spring and fall ideal times to go to Indianapolis. Downtown hotels are available at unbeatable prices year-round with Travelocity.
