The Looking Glass in as a beautiful house/inn, built in 1903. The innkeeper was knowledgeable about both the home and restaurants/sites in the area. The room and common areas were comfy, clean, and tastefully decorated. There was a reading chair in my room (The Crimson) that was large enough for two and perfect! I will definitely be staying there again.

We will never go to a hotel again!

My husband and I checked into the Looking Glass in on a weekend in January. We reserved the Gold Room. When we arrived the innkeeper, Priscilla kindly directed me where I could park and even met me at the side door after we parked so we wouldnt have to walk as far ( it was very cold out). She checked us in quickly but still gave us plenty information that we needed. There is a "snack" area with free snacks like chips, popcorn, coffee and pop upstairs. That was nice for us. The innkeeper provided us the "warm welcome" platter when we arrived, i reccommend you request that it is a large plate of grapes, cheese crackers, nuts and 2 sparkling waters on ice. Its a really nice touch and a good snack after our long drive in. We left after that and had a night on the town at Mass Ave which is only 5min away. Plenty of Uber & Lyft's on the weekends too. We came back around 12am and enjoyed a bath in the jacuzzi tub before getting in the comfy big queen bed. In the morning breakfast was AMAZING, they have a hot breakfast on the weekends. Priscilla, the innkeeper, was serving up breakfast and made some light conversation with us, making us feel quite welcome before we checked out. We have never stayed at a B&B before, and I can assure you this wont be the last time. In fact, I dont think ill ever stay at a hotel in indianapolis again.

Over Rated Rooming House

Showed up to the facility with no staff to be found. After leaving two messages the "inn keeper" showed up. Showed me to my room which had a sliding barn door. Poorly lit and run down. Shower had a terrible water flow and you had to be in good shape to get in the old tub. Definetly not good for seniors. Clean but very dated. Bed was old. If you moved to the center it was ok. Inn keeper turned out to be a nice guy. Tried to accommodate with what he had to work wit which wasn't much. No breakfast at this so called bed and breakfast. Only hot breakfast on Saturday if you were willing to eat some kind of breaded eggs which the woman serving couldn't describe. Also ran out of coffee. I was headed to the airport and wanted a to go cup but couldn't wait. Location was good, close to town. Porch was nice to sit on but they really should clean up the spyder webs on the chairs. I know some couples thought it was cute and quaint. But as a business man for that money I could have done a lot better. No chance to change your mind. They grab 50% within minutes with no refund. A business associate rented a B and B on the same street for 25% less. He had a refrigerator in his room. I didn't see it as a good B and B without breakfast but more like a rooming house.

We are disheartened that this forum is used to disseminate inaccurate information. We would like to respond to and clear up misinformation. We are an historic bed and breakfast inn located in downtown Indianapolis. We have been serving 1000's and 1000's of guests for the last 18 years and have made them by far and away very happy. Our repeat patronage is quite high with some guests coming weekly, monthly and annually. As we are an inn, we ask our guests' arrival time so that we may properly greet them at the door. The guest who reviewed us here arrived 1.5 hours after his scheduled arrival and upon arrival didn't press the doorbell located at the front door. The front door is equipped with a video doorbell which allows us to talk to and respond quickly to guests who are arriving. We didn't receive any phone calls. Our innkeeper was at the inn but had no indication of anyone's arrival. At the time of check-in, the guest made it very clear that he was unhappy with a bed and breakfast for his overnight needs. He vocalized that he didn't want to stay and wanted to cancel his reservation. As our cancellation policy requires a 7 day advance notice in this case, we advised that the room would still need to be paid in full. The guest became very angry, left the inn and then returned saying he would use the room. The guest was shown to the Portrait Room which features a beautiful antique bedroom suite, Persian rug, private bath with claw foot tub and has a NEW queen size mattress. Access to the room is via a 'pocket door' not a 'barn door'. Weekdays a continental plus breakfast is served featuring - coffee, tea, OJ, cranberry juice, an assortment of breakfast breads, fruit, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, boiled eggs, cereal, milk, cream cheese, butter, jellies etc. Weekends a hot breakfast is served with all of the above options available as well. Pleasant stay

Pros: A very pleasant residential area, great for taking late afternoon walks. A very "homey" feel.
Cons: See my first comment regarding a better "pre-arrival" packet for guests.
Location: Griffin Inn for dinner (ask about the history of their safe -- you'll understand when you visit). BlueIndy station a half block to the east.
I arrived late and was confused about where to park and how to enter the building after hours. I finally found the key drop at the front of the building and an envelope with my name on it containing further instructions. I would recommend putting those instructions (and a top-down view of the lot with the house shown) in an email to guests. I never did decide exactly where I should be parking, so I parked along the west edge of the lot, up against the next building, to try to keep the driveway clear, if possible. (Oh, btw: go around the front to get the room key from the lock box, then enter from the west side door where the driveway is. You can park in back or in the driveway, just leave room for others to get around you. Verify this with the host/hostess though, as it might have changed.) My visit started out unfortunately, as the A/C went out the day of my visit! The host had circulating fans set up and I spent the evening in that room, but they moved me to another room the following afternoon as the A/C repairman had made it better, but it was still not fully functioning. The following evening (third night), the temperature was under control and the rest of my five day business trip was great. Continental breakfast weekday mornings, hot breakfast on weekends. The hostess is a culinary graduate and sets a fine spread. If she bakes a tea time treat, definitely try some -- for me it was banana bread. Mmm!

Beautiful B & B with Amazing Charm & Hospitality

We absolutely loved staying here for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer! The innkeepers were so welcoming and hospitable. They made us feel like family, and we hope they're still there the next time we go back. They were constantly eager to serve us, talk with us, or make us whatever we desired. I hope you all get the same great experience we did!
