South Bronx Hotel & Travel Guide
Famed for being the birthplace of hip-hop, urban renewal has revitalized the once-gritty South Bronx in NYC, yet colorful wall murals and the diverse community still allow you to glimpse its rich cultural past. From admiring art-filled galleries to bouncing to the beat at a local club, there's plenty of entertainment to be found in the area. South Bronx hotels are a fraction of the cost of Manhattan accommodations, and they provide an ideal base from which you can explore the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, and beyond.
Out and About in South Bronx
Learn more about the area's grassroots arts' scene at the Bronx Documentary Center, where photojournalists frequently deliver talks about their craft. The Bronx Museum of the Arts is also worth a visit, and you can exit the museum onto the 100-year old Grand Concourse and admire the Art Moderne architecture. Afterwards, shoot some hoops at Saint Mary's Park and mull over your new found knowledge. You won’t find glitzy boutiques here, but small thrift stores provide spots to browse vintage gear and pick-up some unusual knickknacks. Cheap hotels in South Bronx allow you to visit New York on a more affordable budget, and if you book car rentals in South Bronx, you'll have your own set of wheels to whiz around on.
Tacos and Spanish Beats
Can you munch on burritos and guacamole like there is no tomorrow? Well you're in luck, as South Bronx's Hub District is home to some of the most raved-about Mexican joints in NY. After dinner, head to the Soundview District for lively Latino dance clubs, where you can salsa into the early hours. Some of the best hotels in South Bronx are located just a stone's throw away from dining hot spots and late-night venues.
Ready to explore the eclectic South Bronx neighborhoods? Use Travelocity book hotels in New York City along with your flights, and you'll know you're getting the best price out there with the Travelocity Price Guarantee. If you finder lower, we'll match it and refund the difference.

Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel
"The hotel was very clean, staff was exceptionally attentive, the beds were incredible, and the location cannot be beat. We took the subway from JFK and the stop is right at the corner where the hotel was. We walked to Times Square and theaters and the Empire State Building, and took the bus and train to get to other places - it was so easy from the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again. The elevators are a little bit of a pain and can be slow, but most of the time they were not a problem. Just leave a little extra time if you’re on a schedule."
