Ocean view is a walk away! Also, Hearst Castle is close by, Elephant Seal viewing areas and nice hikes to the Piedras Blancas Light Station and magnificent views of the islands!

Queen beds seem smaller than normal. Shower is excellent. Location is great for trips to Hearst, Cambria, and Paso. Fridge works great and was able to keep ice cream frozen.

It was ok.
It was ok for the most part. If you want to be in the first building you have to get there early. We arrived late so we got two rooms in the second building which was a short walk to breakfast in the morning. My room was fine. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked the sunken tub the best. The second room was for my elderly parents. We originally requested two regular rooms but since my 79 year old Mom had just gotten out of the hospital a month ago I asked for a ADA compliant room. The front desk person was really nice and found us a room. The room was ok but the shower flooded the floor and wasn’t safe for someone that just got out of the hospital. She could have easily slipped so she didn’t bother taking a shower. That was the only down side.

Check-in was efficient, professional and accommodating. There are lovely sketches of Hearst Castle designs throughout the hotel. Located less than 10 minutes from Hearst Castle and Cambria. Those are all positive and added to our experience. Unfortunately overall, this hotel seems like it stopped trying some time ago. We found it very overpriced for what was offered. The bed was an old spring bed, noisy with no support and not comfortable. The continental breakfast was inadequate even for 2-star hotels. The rooms were uncomfortable. There is a space heater in the wall which we didn't need, but nothing to keep the room cool or remove the musty odor and humidity. The ceiling fan is not enough so you must keep the window open at all times. First floor rooms' windows are adjacent to the sidewalk and parking, so this is a potential security and privacy problem. There is no elevator for the second floor. We cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Very gloomy, dark furnishings, no elevator, terrible remodel by probably vision umpired contractor … can see where old holes in the walls and old counter tops were attached before. We never saw before headboards bolted to the walls with metal plates . Terribly understaffed, one person is a receptionist, maid, handyman etc…. Completely misleading on Hotels.com website. Our so called “partial ocean view” was a view of a parking lot with bushes and peeled stucco wall. It is a shame to change he $280 for a room at that place. Will not recommend

The place looked shabby and outdated...there's a difference between vintage and just looking outdated, and this place looks like a time capsule to the 70's or earlier...the room was clean and the breakfast was good, but the overall look, especially from the outside, was unimpressive. There was a rusted dumped water heater that greeted us from the parking lot, and cordoned-off section of the parking that looked like it had been there for months without attention. Definitely not impressed with this place and will not be going back.
