Staff was unable to help when a wedding party takedown of tables and chairs went past midnight and noise was entering room on and off throughout the night. Finally got to sleep and a party of about 30 noisy people came through the same patio area and woke me AGAIN! Not good.

It was fun to go back to a 1917 building, which reminded me of the 1918 house that I grew up in for nostalgia. The palm tree needed trimmed that was growing right up against the window! Somebody needs to take a chainsaw of those palm fronds. Their winds need washed on the outside. The staff was very nice.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. It’s getting older and has a musty older smell and could use some updates, but the room was great and no complaints. The front desk staff, two younger fellows had the personality of a dead fish. I never did get my receipt for the stay. When my mom was alive, she was friends with the owner, and I’m sure she would want to know that the front desk staff was not the friendliest. We stayed for 3 nights and the next day our key card was disabled. It worked for the first night and we left for breakfast the next morning and came back and couldn’t get in the room. Our keycard was not left in a hot car or near our cell phone, in which the front desk tried to imply that we must have done.

I chose this property on a recent trip to Grover Beach since it was a lot more Inexpensive than other closer options, and a half hour drive was worth it to me. I don’t think I’ll do that again. It was pretty far off the highway with plenty of stoplights so it wasn’t as convenient location-wise as I had thought. This facility looks like it was really elegant in its day, but it’s getting worn out. Hot water didn’t work in the shower, no clock in bedroom, fire alarm went off a few times between 5:00 and 5:30, mattresses had the “romantic roll” depression down the center. The room was very spacious with a charming bay window and crown molding, and the grounds are well kept. I could see the pool from my window and it was pretty and landscaped and a rather large area where a whole family could have a nice time, as a couple families were. The property needs some TLC to bring it back to three-star quality., as advertised But to be fair, they didn’t charge me a three-star price.
