Staff were friendly, room was clean, toiletries were adequate. Air conditioning was difficult to control. Lobby was clean, but hallway carpet looked dirty. Instant coffee in the room, but no creamer. Area around hotel is dirty and noisy, but we knew it would be.

I stayed here a few years ago during covid at the same room I got during this stay and it was amazing. Now I don't know if I've gotten bougie over the years but this time around the hotel felt a little worse for wear and out dated, hair on the floor in the bathroom, a weird smell when you walk in like half clean/half damp and despair, black mold in certain corners, balcony looked like it hadn't been swept or looked at in multiple stays and everything had a coat of dinginess to it if that makes any sense it just didn't feel truly clean like my previous stay. Besides that the room did the job and the surrounding area was enjoyable! fast check in and courteous staff, empanda mamas right across the st, multiple clothing stores and for the area and the balcony included the price was modest! thank you Allen hotel but my only critique is to please talk with your cleaning team about taking more pride in ensuring rooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized! The things I encountered and noted were disappointing to say the least and I was only staying for a night but if it was for multiple I would have definitely been back at the front desk asking for an upgrade or a partial refund due to the conditions, also just sucks because I was bragging about how clean it was the last time I stayed to my lady before we got there.

Room was not clean, and was not cleaned during our stay. Despite asking for it specifically 2 days in a row. Only thing houskeeping did was put the same sheets straight on the beds, and new towels. However, we were with 3 persons, and for all four nights we had to ask an extra towel because they putbonly 2 new towels back. Reception people were nice, but incompetent.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the lower east side NYC. Our friends were staying in Chinatown and their hotel was an 8 minute walk from the Allen Hotel. It was peaceful, quiet, clean, roomy for a NY hotel with a balcony. Would definitely come back here.

The staff was excellent. They offered to hold our bags after checkout so we could continue to explore. Some NYC hotels won’t do that! The room was super clean with plenty of surrounding dining options. Great affordable lower East Side option.

I stay here often, and always enjoy it. For me it’s a great area with good transport, staff are wonderful, rooms are bigger and more nicely furnished than you usually find in NYC hotels, and the place has a lot of character which you never find in hotels, period.
