Close to theater district

Pros: Close to thater district
Cons: Larger bathroom...put another door on shower Larger elevator...present one tooooo small.
Location: Near to theater district. That's it.
Travelocity told me that I could challenge the fascilities fee. I did not use the facilities. I was told at the front desk that this was a new policy. This was an unfair policy placed on patrons.

More like a 3 star hotel.

Pros: Location- location- location
Cons: Nicer bed.
Location: Great location.
Older hotel, bathrooms had been updated. Carpets worn, Towels worn. Elevators were slow

Only good thing is the location

Staff was rude, bed was uncomfortable, terrible pillows, and the elevators were tiny, slow and unreliable.

Hello, Please accept our sincere apology for managing to fall far below meeting your expectations. Our goal is to exceed all guest expectations and clearly this was not the case based on your feedback and experience. We are very sorry that the elevators were not up to your standards. Our property is part of a very old building so the elevator shafts cannot be made any bigger, as is the case with a lot of older buildings in the city. We would kindly request that you do reconsider staying with Hotel Mela in the future and we will ensure your next experience with us is far different and much improved, than your last. Room was very small. Housecleaning always cleaned and left one face towel I had to ask for another. They did not throughly clean the toilets as I seen feces under the rim of toilet. The heat could not go up past 80* so I could not warm up as I needed to.

Nice little hotel very close to Times Square

The hotel is small and older but has been updated nicely. If you are looking for space this is not for you. Bathroom is very small but updated. I don't stay in my room much at all but to sleep when I'm vacationing so it was fine for me. However I was charged $60 that I wasn't aware of for hotel fees that Travelocity did not mention.

New York Trip

Pros: The hotel staff is good, the rooms are very small, but, comfortable and the location is great. They have coffee every morning and a bowl of apples.
Cons: The internet was down when we were there and this a big problem for me as I need it for my business. They charge a facility fee which I do not like.,
Location: You are 1/2 block from Times Square, There is tons of things to do and see. The hotel restaurant is good. You are very close to subways and Broadway..
We had a great time in New York. There were several items that did not work out as we had hoped, but, overall a great trip. The plane was delayed over an hour on take off. However, the airlines texted me to let me know which was appreciated. W had stayed at the same hotel on our last trip, but, this time, the room was smaller, no desk, no refrigerator, and biggest problem of all was no internet. I am a mortgage loan officer and even when on vacation, I work an hour in the morning and an hour at night. The hotel made no allowances or suggestions for help. Because of the weather and location, there was no internet easily available close by. I had picked our seats on the airlines both directions prior to departure. Going out, no problem. Coming home, the Airlines had changed our seats and we were not together. The Airline boarding person made us check one of our carry on bags at an additional cost and considerable time and hassle. The return flight pre-board was very unfriendly to several travelers and made several check in bags that they regularly travel with.

Hello, Thanks so much for your recent stay at Hotel Mela and for sharing your experience with the online community. While we would have loved to receive your feedback and learning about a very good and/or perfect experience, we do understand that shortfalls made your experience only average. We are very pleased that you found the cleanliness was up to your standards. Our team works very hard to make sure that our guests feel comfortable and at home during their stay. In addition, Times Square is a great area to visit because there is so much to do in addition to it being centrally located in the city. Bring Your Own Mattress and Pillows!

Pros: location
Cons: The room. The decor. The mattress. The pillows. The rug. Everything!
Location: room was soooo bad
If you happen to travel with your own mattress, this is the hotel for you. The mattress was cheap, lumpy and hard. The pillows were so lumpy and mushy, I felt sorry for them. The room itself was tiny, drab, and did not FEEL clean, fresh and inviting. The linens did not look fresh and clean. AND it was noisy - even though it was an inside room with no natural light on the 15th floor. There is a loud humming.

Nice hotel close to Times Square

Pros: It is super convenient to Times Square.
Cons: The hotel signage was not very prominent so it is very easy to walk past it.
Location: Very close to Times Square, within walking distance to various TV shows, Central Park and other places.
My wife and I used this hotel for a weekend trip to NYC. We found it just as promised!!!

Wonderful Hotel Mela in the heart of Times Square.

Wonderful Hotel Mela right in the middle of Times Square, close to everything including Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, great restaurants and shopping. The staff was, wonderful, great hospitality from Adrian May at the front desk, (he was awesome) all the way down to the cleaning person, the room was immaculate. Best stay we've ever had in New York City ever, and My daughter and I visit once every other month, at least. We will definitely be back!!
