"Nice Hotel"
This hotel was nice and intimate. We stayed there for labor day we were a little upset about the rooftop being closed and the shower didn't work properly but over all it was a good stay.

"Great stay...great location"
My wife and I spent 5 days in Chicago to celebrate our 10th anniversary and were very happy with our stay at the Warwick Allerton. The hotel staff was top notch and extremely helpful with any questions we had. We were really impressed with the fact that the hotel offered you $10 off any in-room food service or dining room food order if you choose to "go green" by not having your room linens & towels changed each day. The hotel is within walking distance of several attractions, restaurants and shopping spots. Plus you are only a short cab or Uber ride away from just about anything Chicago has to offer. Overall as our "home" for 5 days we were very pleased!

"Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Location!!!!"
After a lot of research online for the perfect hotel to celebrate our anniversary, this will be our go to hotel every time we are in Chicago. We stayed in the Mosaic suite and had the entire 6th floor to ourselves. Complimentary bottle of wine and fruit was brought to our room to celebrate our anniversary. I think I may have said one thing about it being our anniversary to the person checking us in(Luis?) and I didn't make a big deal about at all. Was an awesome surprise! The patio area on the 17th floor was amazing, only wish we had more time to enjoy it. Two minor negatives to minimal to even mention in detail. Love this place!

Freehand Hotel Chicago - Chicago Hotels

Freehand Hotel Chicago

19 East Ohio Street, Chicago - Map
"Funky dark Bohemian Hotel in Chicago"
The Freehand Chicago will appeal to trendy eclectic seekers. It's 'pick-up' lounge atmosphere & Bohemian decor give it an informal feel. The bar is cavernous and dark with secluded corners where some not-so-cool public behaviour can be witnessed. From that perspective, this is not a family hotel. The bar food, hoping to be edgy, is expensive and disappointing. The dorm-style room with two bunkbeds was small, but functional. While it sleeps four, you'd never want to be four in such a small room. It would be reminiscent of a train sleeping car - no room to move. The pillows are lumpy and thin with thin scratchy blankets. And don't bother trying to relax on the small seating area - the cushions slide off in all directions. The 5th grade macrame wall decor was a bit sad. Note that there is no phone, no mini-frig, no soap or shampoo and no wash clothes provided by the hotel. All of this points to a hostel-style accommodation, which again, may appeal to no-fuss travelers, but without the budget rates to go with it. The rooms are still pricey for what you get (or don't get). Overall, the Freehand Chicago seems to suffer from a case of mistaken identity. It wasn't an up-scale trendy hotel, although the prices suggest otherwise; and it's not a budget hostel for the economy traveler, who would struggle to cover the cost of a 'snack' at the bar. To be far, it should be mentioned that there is guest laundry in the basement and a guest kitchen (both nods to hostels).

MileNorth Hotel

"Great location but hotel itself needs improvement"
Great location, walking distance to Michigan Ave, various bus and L stops. Clean, and staff was very helpful. Doormen were super friendly! However, for downtown Chicago and the price you pay, Mile North should make several improvements. We had multiple issues with our keycards. (They still use the older version of magnetic, inserting cards) We had a "suite" and the bed was a very uncomfortable, double (not even queen!) sized bed. Bathroom had no fan and no towel racks or robe hooks (other than inside the shower). Sink was inside the room with toilet and shower, making it difficult for a family of four to all get ready at once. We did not bring a car, but be aware that the parking was $62 PER DAY! Wifi is additional EVEN IN THE LOBBY. They will also automatically charge you a ridiculous "resort fee" for fitness center (which we never used) and a "business center". (which was 2 iMacs in the middle of the lobby) Plan on paying additional for breakfast, too. The hotel boasts of a rooftop with spectacular views, however they do not allow access before 5pm and no one under 21. We asked if we could just take our kids up just for a few minutes during the day or before they opened as a bar and were told no, which was surprising. The lobby bar closed at 10:30pm even on weekends (never stayed at a hotel which the bar closed that early) and the rooftop bar had private events 2 out of 3 nights we were there. If one wanted a late-night drink, you'd be out of luck.
