We had stayed at the Congress Plaza hotel before and were just as impressed on this visit. It is not new, shiny and modern but has a very nostalgic feeling. The upper floor views of the lake and Buckingham Fountain are priceless. The only complaint is that the parking is a bit expensive but it is Chicago.

We enjoyed our room here. It was old and charming, I don't think it was updated particularly recently but nice. It was small but pleasant and safe feeling - also very quiet - often a perk of older buildings - nice thick walls. Great location to park and the museums - easy walking. Plenty of coffee shops close by but would have been nice to have one on premise. Easy parking.

Old and classic hotel in downtown Chicago. Everything has been updated with an eye toward ascetics. Great location near all major transportation facilities makes getting around this city outstanding. For those of us getting to this city via Amtrak, there are direct CTA connections available.

Expensive parking- $44 for one day. Soda machine on our floor was broken. Otherwise super cute historic hotel with nice staff, high ceilings, deep soaker tub, beautiful views of city or lake. Was walkable to everywhere I wanted to be (Millenium Park, Navy Pier). Would definitely come back!

Okay so the hotel is very old, I fully understand that. The staff was as nice as they could be and I feel bad they probably deal with so many complaints because they hotel is terrible. The lobby, beautiful. Beyond that, it’s a total dump. The carpet is stained & lumpy throughout. Damage on walls and doors just painted over with white paint. The rooms have like no lights and no way to control the temperature. No hot water, stand in ankle deep water to shower. After our room had been cleaned, I was walked in on by a hotel employee while I was in the shower, I attempted contacting management and they wouldn’t reply. The $20 breakfast buffet is also awful! I will never stay at this hotel ever again!!!

Great location! Needs a little bit of a facelift though -- rooms could be more modern. i.e. Pillows were awful. Otherwise, great stay!
