Room was great but service lacked in some impactful ways. I was doing a trip with my sister who arrived from Europe earlier than me when my flight was delayed. Despite having called the hotel (hours before check-in as soon as I realized I'd be late) and added her to the reservation, when she arrived, she was told she could not check-in because her name wasn't on the reservation. Not great service. After producing copies of the confirmation that I had personally emailed to her and going through a manager, she was permitted to check-in, and for which she provided a credit card. When I checked in, I switched the room to my credit card; however the hotel still has not released the held funds after two weeks on her card. Both her and I have called both the front desk and accounting departments. I've experienced multiple dropped calls in transferring and unreturned voicemails. It seems like these issues may be poor staff communication but it is souring a stay that would have been good. I'm honestly hoping that this review might help someone address the ongoing issue and highlight the need to be able to handle normal travel complications that any guest might experience.

Amazing experience from the location to the staff! Service was wonderful the entire 4 days we stayed there. The river view is unbeatable, 5-10 walk to everything from magnificant mile to millennium park can't beat it. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, establishment was clean. Would stay again 10/10.

Details were impeccable, staff always greeted us when entering the property, help us with navigating the area, made sure we were stacked with necessities. Needed a microwave thru brought it up quick. Would surely stay again I love the Sonesta hotels

I originally gave the property a bad review in regards to the amenities and upgrades. I was quickly proven wrong when Candice who is apart of the Director team i believe quickly fixed the situation. she personally reached out and helped me resolve my issues and went above and beyond. Ive stayed at both the downtown and river north location this experience here makes me want to go to their other hotel in chicago the Allegro. 10/10 would recommend
