Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown

Pros: location location location
Room was small but very comfortable. We were only there to sleep anyway. It was a last minute booking and they were very accomodating to our needs. Wine in the evening. Coffee and tea in the morning. Parking was a shocker at $63 - the highest we've ever encountered!

Thanks for providing feedback from your stay. We're disappointed to see you weren't fully satisfied with your stay. Like most downtown hotels, we do not operate our own parking structure, so we have contracted a competitive rate for our parking services through a third party. Should your travels bring you back downtown and you don't need the in and out access that our valet provides, we suggest looking into one of the many parking garages in the area. Thanks again for choosing our hotel and we hope to have you back in the future!

Visiting Family

Pros: Staff
The wow factor that I had was for the staff. Starting from check-in they seemed genuinely interested in helping you. I knew that I booked the smaller room but failed to realize how tight it would be. I won’t do that again. My problem was with the bed linins. Pulling back the comforter we notice something on the sheet then noticed something under it. The mattress pad had a 3x3 blood stain. This is something that housekeeping decided was OK. Called the desk they offer to change our room but we were unpacked and dressed for bed. They sent housekeeping to change the linins on the bed which was done promptly. The manager came to the room and took a picture of the stain and asked what he could do for us. I’m sorry but it makes you think what else is “good enough”. The rate was good and the staff was friendly so I would return. I just hope they figure out how to avoid the good enough attitudes.

Not what I expected

The room looked way different in the pictures compared to how it was in person, we had to stay in the floor where it was pet friendly because our room wasn't ready, house keeping kept knocking on our door after the "do not disturb" sign was there and the room was very tiny and no type of city view.

Pros: location
Cons: Customer service
Location: Walking distance to Millenium Park and Sears Tower, among myriad other
Notified hotel that the reservation was for an anniversary. No one at any time acknowledged it. The room was cramped. There was no fitted sheet on the bed, only a top sheet and the duvet had no cover, just another top sheet over it. Upon checkout, we were charged for $80 in calls we never made and forced to pay then call back after checkout rather than resolving the issue in person. It took 4 calls to 4 different lines to finally reach someone who could handle the error.

Stay was nice and clean.

Other than them overcharging and telling me each time that'll I'll have it 3-5 business days it went well. It's been a month since our visit and they've get to repay us our "deposit". The only replies we get is that it should be in our account.

Comfy beds and close to Train

I really felt like I received a bargain with Allegro. It felt like I paid 3 star hotel price for a 4 star hotel boutique. My only complain is that they do not offer free bottles of water but I was fine with buying my own. There's a Walgreens less than a block away, close to a station that has all of the trains available. 45 min away from O'Hare by train. The bed was super comfy and I slept so well.

The hotel was well located for visits to the Art Institute, the Lyric Opera, State Street, and the CTA to the airport. The staff were informative and friendly. The hotel is just beautiful with beautifully decorated rooms. The Prosecco hour was icing on the cake. A coffeemaker would have been nice - but then again the Starbucks is connected to the hotel so excellent coffee was readily available. Will recommend to friends and hope to stay at the Allegro again.

WOW, just WOW

Pros: the ambience, the service, the location, the recent renovation makes it a stunning place to stay!
Cons: nothing
Location: Theater district, very close to everything still, easy walk to State Street and Michigan Avenue.
This hotel was just renovated in the summer of 2015 and boy did they do a knock out job. From the grand entrance and staircase to the 40's glam vibe everywhere, it is definitely the most beautiful Kimpton I have stayed in yet. I had booked a King Standard Room, but when I checked in, they had upgraded me to a complimentary suite and that evening even brought me complimentary champagne service. They had lovely holiday themed beverages for the happy hour, which is always included from 5-6 pm when you stay with them and even had a gorgeous hot chocolate bar both mornings I was there. I have stayed in many Kimptons and always have great service and a great experience, but this upgraded treatment was certainly a first experience at a Kimpton. I highly recommend Allegro out of all the Chicago Kimptons. Beautiful and dreamy and an experience I will never forget. Thank you Allegro Kimpton Chicago!
