Cockroaches, Construction, Oh My!

Pros: Proximity to Wrigley and a few restaurants we wanted to visit.
Cons: There must be a bug issue....Fix the Cockroaches....we didn't want to eat anywhere near the kitchen!
Location: Wrigley is super close as well as the Belmont "L" (Red, Brown and Purple Lines)
We were visiting Chicago and decided to pick this hotel for it's closeness to Wrigley Field. While that is a HUGE bonus to it's location...consider the following before making your reservations. The hotel is right outside the BELMONT "L" station....the building next door is under construction. FULL DEMOLITION took place while we were there. We stayed in August, we had the "luxury" of a window air conditioning unit to block out the noise from the "L" and the construction but IF you stay here in colder months you will not be so lucky. We were welcomed with a cockroach (3"mind you) climbing on the managers office door jam...as we waited for the tiniest elevator known to man. It is close to cute restaurants and Wrigley but I'm not sure we would ever stay again...

Pros: convenience, bed linens were very nice
Cons: lamps weren't bright enough to read by (white shades, brighter bulbs would help), valet parking,
There aren't many choices in this part of town. This seems to be the best priced hotel. Room was fine, bathroom very nice (mine was large enough and had a window sill to use for my own toiletries), toiletries available (mounted to wall) but they smell awful and there was horrible water pressure in my 4th floor shower. Bed linens were very nice, tv worked well. 2 lamps (and an overhead light but still) difficult to get enough light to read at night. Parking is a block away in a creepy garage but hotel has convenient drop off space in front for checking in etc. Breakfast was available but all cold and dry (cereal, muffins).

Affordable Option but No Frills

The City Suites Hotel is an affordable (not cheap) option in the Lakeview area. There are many shops and restaurants around the hotel and it is located next to the Loop. The hotel is not fancy but offers pretty basic accommodations. It was pretty basic, the walls are very thin (can hear everything happening in the hallway), some rooms are located next to the L station so you can constantly hear the announcements (DOORS CLOSING, TRAIN COMING, etc.), the rooms seem not to have A/C which makes them stuffy (there is a ceiling fan but it can be a little loud), the lights in my room worked inconsistently. The continental breakfast is actually fine, there is free WiFi, and the snack/mini bar in the room is super cheap ($1 for most snacks, $2 for beer, etc.). I stayed here for a wedding and it suited its purpose just fine. I wouldn't recommend for a getaway or a relaxing weekend due to the noise.

Convenient older hotel-good value-would stay again

Pros: Location is great Nice area/easy access to rest of city Hotel older but clean/well kept.Staff helpful& friendly.Would definitely stay again.
Cons: Should inform guests about train side. Lighting in rooms not adequate. Water pressure not great.
Location: Lakeview/Boystown-plenty of restaurants, funky shops. Lincoln Park one stop away. Train access wonderful-no need for car or taxis.
We chose to book here for the first time for a short stay due to it's location and price and were not disappointed at all. The lobby is nice, free breakfast good(enough choices to satisfy all) - great breakfast place a few doors down if you prefer full service.Did not use the parking but the listed price was good for the area.No coffee maker in room but coffee is available(& tea/ hot choc) in the lobby all day.Prices for the min bar and small bites menu were very very good. Wifi access constant and strong. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times.Tiny elevator altho there was a wait only once while hotel fully booked (stairs-only 4 stories).Train access (useful red & brown line) fantastic. The room was a good size (deluxe double room with 2nd sofa area)and clean. If we had had the number of occupants allowed there could have been a lack of storage. Bath was clean and a good size. Water pressure could be better. Needs better lighting.Conscious of other reviews we still opted to stay in the room offered which was as close to the El as one of their rooms can get since they were allowing us to check in quite early. Having lived in major East Coast cities we wanted to see how it compared to usual city noise. If you are not used to constant train sounds it could be an issue. We did not have a major issue but in the future would request a room on the other side simply b/c it would be more quiet. No noticeable street noise otherwise.Nice area.

Good location for me

We've stayed here several times. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ask for a relatively quiet room to avoid street and EL noise. Our room was small, but the bed was very comfortable. Larger rooms are available. A light breakfast is included.

Nice but Noisy

Checked into hotel in very early morning hours. Room was nice but we were awakened by loud fight, glass breaking, etc., from the alley below. Sounded like we were in very bad neighborhood. Trains were very noisy too. Once we were able to venture out during the day we found out the reviews of the area we accurate and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our stay. Just disappointed with the noise level if you are on the side of the hotel near the tracks. Hotel staff was friendly.

This was my first time to visit Chicago and City Suites was the perfect place to stay.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
City Suites was close to the "L" line which allowed us to take the Red line downtown to visit the sites and then the Brown line to go Northwest to get to a great German restruant in Lincoln Square. The staff at the hotel was pleasant and very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. I will stay here the next time I am in Chicago.

Charming older hotel.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
The hotel was easy to find, convenient for our stay near Wrigleyville. The parking garage was very close by. The room was large and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Noise from the street was not significant.
