Vintage mountain cottage with modern amenities, comfort and charm

The Hemlock Cottage was built in the 1920s as a workshop for the main residence on the property, and converted into a cozy, comfortable living space in 2001. The open-plan living space oozes vintage charm with its color scheme, decorative antiques and furnishings including a 1950s chrome-and-enamel dining table--but modern travelers (and their pets) will find all the amenities they need for their getaway, including a king-sized bed with professionally-laundered cotton linens, well-equipped kitchenette, three-piece bathroom with endless hot water, romantic gas log fireplace, air conditioning, flat-screen TV with cable, Roku & DVD player, Wi-Fi and a private outdoor hot tub. You will find complete peace and relaxation on our adults-only property, which is just a stone's throw away from all the attractions of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and the Hickory Nut Gorge.

Located just around the corner from the Lake Lure Beach and Marina and five minutes' drive from Chimney Rock State Park, the Hemlock Cottage is a mountain getaway gem that has provided a restful escape for travelers for 20 years. The cottage is conveniently located, yet private. It offers a partial mountain view from the front door (mostly obscured in summer when trees are leafed out) and is nestled into lush green native trees and plants that will make you feel like you're hidden away in the woods.

Come enjoy your own private patio with a sparkling-clean hot tub for two, shaded by beautiful hemlock trees and open to the beautiful mountain sky. Feel at home enjoying a comfortable king size bed, fireplace, Wi-Fi, Netflix and so much more. The Hemlock Cottage is carefully decorated with antiques, collectibles and regionally hand-crafted furniture. Feel free to sleep in, as your kitchen is stocked with breakfast goodies to start the day at your own pace (homemade bread & muffins, fresh fruit, hot cereal, butter, jam, creamers, sweeteners, coffee, tea & cocoa).

The property is nestled under a beautiful tree canopy and provides ample seating areas to appreciate the natural surroundings and--if you're lucky--wildlife including our adorable flying squirrels, whitetail deer, hummingbirds and chameleons. The picnic pavilion, shared by all four units, provides guests with a gas grill and outdoor dining area. We also have a sweet little propane firepit to enhance your outdoor relaxation (new in fall 2020).

The Hemlock Cottage is an ideal choice for honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays, romantic escapes and relaxation retreats. Our guests return again and again for the peaceful mountain cottage ambiance and thoughtful amenities that provide a respite from whatever stresses may beset your everyday life. Whether you stay a weekend or a week, you will find yourselves charmed by the spirit of this magnificent place.

If you can tear yourselves away from the comforts of your cottage, you will discover a wide variety of pleasures and adventures in any season: from unique local restaurants to gift and antique shops, hiking trails and tours, boat and kayak rentals, seasonal produce and craft stands, winery tastings, zip-line tours, horseback riding and whitewater adventures.

We are located in the center of it all:

5 minutes to Chimney Rock Village and State Park
25 minutes to Tryon International Equestrian Center
30 minutes to historic Hendersonville
45 minutes to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate
1 hour to Greenville-Spartanburg
1.5 hours to Charlotte

Please note that we are an adults-only property and we do not make exceptions to this policy for children of any age.

**IMPORTANT**: In periods of lower demand and occupancy, we may offer single-night stays. The rates reflected in our calendar assume a minimum two-night stay; however, because the effort and costs involved in a one-night rental are virtually the same as a multi-night stay, we may charge an additional supplement for one-night bookings (between $15-30). If you request a single night's stay, we will send you a new quote with the fee added which you can choose to accept or decline.

==A special note regarding cancellations in pandemic times==

We have seen a distinct increase in last-minute cancellations since 2020. While we understand that life in general feels more uncertain these days and that many are struggling, we ask guests to recognize that the same applies to us as small business owners with a sole source of income.

If you would like to book with us but a last-minute cancellation (and loss of any monies paid to us) would be unsustainable for you, we recommend you purchase trip insurance with cancel-for-any-reason coverage.

We look forward to hosting you!

Such a cute property!
We loved our stay! Very pet friendly. We had great communication with the owner when needed. Contactless check-in and out. Each cabin is extremely private. The hot tub was my husband’s favorite thing. 😉

The cottage was cute, clean & had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The owner was available for our needs. Homemade bread/muffins/fruits/oatmeals/coffees/teas & hot chocolate was there. They even had a First Aid Kit. Well lit with motion detector lights. We Looooved this cottage and it was the headboard that made us pick this one. The gas fire place was Awesome!!! Happy Customers. Not what we were expecting, but the hot tub was nice
The hot tub was the reason for choosing this place over others, and it was very clean and lovely to sit in and have a nice soak (warning: the owner requests that you be nude to use the hot tub, so consider whether you are comfortable with this before booking). The cabin overall was clean, but there were so many knick-knacks on the tables and counters, that we didn't have much space to put our own personal items (some guests may like these knick-knacks and don't take as much stuff as we did, so it might not be a problem). The cabin is also a bit outdated, so it felt overpriced for what you are getting. The owner does have a lot of rules...perhaps they had a bad experience with guests in the past? Communication with property owner was great. We didn't have an unpleasant time, but I don't think I would stay in this cabin again.

New parents getaway!
This was a lovely spot for a new parents getaway. My husband and I had a baby 3 months ago and just needed some peace and quiet time. This cabin provided that and more. We enjoyed local restaurants in Lake Lure and shops. Great location and close enough to our home in Greenville for a sweet weekend trip. The property was nicely stocked with coffee/tea and some light snacks. We really enjoyed the hot tub for 2. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Weekend
My wife and I stayed here with our dog for a long weekend and it was an awesome experience. The house is private and the hot tub was great after hiking all day. It is close enough to Asheville to enjoy a day there but there is also plenty to do in the area such as Chimney Rock State Park with lots of shops outside the entrance to the park. You will have a great time staying here.

Fun, Fun Weekend
The property was great. It was a two-person cozy cottage. The owners were great to work with. The location to the lake and activities were definitely within walking distance but you have to remember the walk back is uphill. The cottage had it's own private hot tub. There was a fire pit area and picnic area but it rained all weekend so we didn't get to use that. We went for the annual Lake Lure Dirty Dancing Festival. I would definitely stay here again.
