"Enjoyed Amsterdam"
The hotel is in a great location with lots of shopping and restaurants close by.  We were told it was a short walk when we got off the train but we are in our 60's and had lots of luggage so would take a cab next time.  Rooms were clean and well equipped and small as described in other reviews.  We didn't spend a lot of time in them and sat in the lobby to surf the internet which was comfortable.  Desk employees were very nice and helpful.

"Did the job well"
I stayed in this hotel on my second trip through Amsterdam in a week. I stayed at the 5 star NH Barbizon on my first run through Amsterdam. Truthfully I thought the Hotel CC was nicer and better. The room was small, but so what. I wasnt really looking to stay in my room much anyway. I would definitely recommend this hotel over the five star one. The shower had a full door (no tub but I dont care for the tub), and the bed had full sheets and comfortor on it. Definitely better than the NH Barbizon.

"Great boutique hotel"
Very pleasant experience. Hotel is within walking distance to everythin and near a subway stop that goes direct to central station. Make sure to buy a card for the street trams as they are very convenient. The cards are good for the subway and the trams.

"My usual hotel in Amsterdam"
My work calls for me frequently to transit Amsterdam, and even though my per diem would allow me to pick more expensive hotels, the Avenue Hotel is the hotel that I try to stay at. It's conveniently located a couple of blocks, or one streetcar (tram) stop from the Central Station, on a quiet (non-touristy) main street within an easy walk from the main shopping areas and some key tourist attractions. (The streetcar lines go to most others, and I strongly suggest that visitors get the 24-hour transit card, which can be bought on the streetcar.) The hotel itself is reasonably cozy and fairly small, with attentive front desk staff. While the rooms are small, they are not teeny, and the hotel has recently added free wifi to the rooms. Television has a wide range of stations. Breakfast consists of an open buffet with ample selection of cold cuts (meats and cheeses), scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, various breads, pancake-type things, etc. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but given that this is Amsterdam with lots of dining places, that's no big deal. The Avenue Hotel provides an experience different from that provided by chain hotels. As I say, even though my per diem would allow me to stay at fancier or more expensive hotels, for both personal and work purposes the Avenue Hotel is where I choose to stay.
