The staff was very friendly and helpful.. I enjoyed my stay.

Pros: Quiet, helpful staff
Cons: parking
It was my birthday, and I stayed in a suite with some girlfriends. I was welcomed by fun and friendly staff. Even valet help one of my vistors with her car instead of valet. I would definetly stay there again. Only downfall is the construction outside, which makes it difficult to find street parking.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stay here. The location was perfect for walking to the Kennedy Center. We will definitely try to stay here when we are in town again.

Great location to stay and visit the capital

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, public transit
Cons: No free Internet
This hotel is very short walk from the metro station and George Washington University, and only a few of stops to the National Mall and museums. The staff was friendly, the rooms were generously sized, and the kitchen was a great bonus for us (with 2 young children). There were several restaurants in walking distance including a kid-friendly Italian place. A Trader Joe's grocery store is within a long walk, which is great place to pick up breakfast food and sandwich makings. The one downside is that there was no parking, but that seems to be a feature of DC hotels in general. Just take a taxi to/from the airport and use the great metro and bus system in the city.

the hotel was in a very convenient location. the rooftop pool that was advertised is tiny. the bathroom was not clean. for the cost I would look around in the area for other accommodations.

Excellent location

Pros: groceries close by
For the money, this was the best place to stay. It was situated in the heart of the capital - nestled between Foggy Bottom and Washington Circle, with the National Mall a moderate walk or inexpensive cab ride away. The room was clean, though some necessary utensils and supplies were missing from the stove equipped kitchenette. We may have just been unlucky, but our only complaint was the mattress that was vaguely bowl shaped and had seen better days. But again, cheap room, courteous and knowledgeable staff and ideal location.

This hotel made me feel like a rock star!

Although it was New Year's Eve, the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Washington, DC was a welcoming, yet relaxed, environment from the minute I pulled up to valet parking. Additionally, we all understand the trials and tribulations faced while attempting to wave down a taxi cab in the city; DoubleTree understood my concerns with an "outside the box and inside the room fee" idea, free cabs! All in all, my stay at DoubleTree was rather pleasant due to the splendid customer service and upkeep of the building. Definitely would recommend!

Wonderful D.C. Trip

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful - even arranging very early check in since we drove in overnight. The room was nice, spacious and clean. The area was very safe, being right next to the college, and convenient to everything. Cons: Bed was bad - sloped into center markedly. The bathroom in the suite was behind bedroom door - so guests had to go through bedroom to get to the bathroom. The kitchen had only one pan and no glasses. All in all, wonderful little hotel and excellent staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Fabulous Value and Location

Perfect for a family vacation. The hotel is 1 block from the Foggy Bottom metro stop and a few blocks from the Watergate complex with grocery and drug stores. It is right next to George Washington University and we felt safe walking from the metro to the hotel even after dark. The desk provided us with a list of restaurants within walking distance, including elegant river-front places and family stand-bys. The suite was perfect for a family vacation. It had an almost full kitchen - stove top, microwave, full fridge, dishwasher and was equipped with cooking utensils and dishes for 4. The suite included a living/ dining area and a separate bedroom. Two tv's allowed the kids to watch their shows while we watched ours. This is the first hotel where I've seen recycling wastebaskets in the room. The roof-top pool was small, but a nice bonus in an area where most hotels don't have pools. The staff was great. Always friendly and helpful. The made a point of greeting us as we came and went. I will note that this is an older hotel and travelers accustomed to luxury hotels might find the hallways and room decor a bit dingy. We experienced a few minor inconveniences (room coffee maker didn't work, tv remote needed new batteries, ice machine wasn't working). All were quickly and cheerfully corrected. Also, housekeeping was a bit hit or miss. We were quite willing to accept these things to get such a great price and location. We can't wait to go back.
