I was late and wet getting to hotel & greeted by friendly attendant. I love the breakfast coffee and afternoon wine treat. I have been staying at the hotel once a year. I love the improvements. Thanks

My stay at the hotel was excellent. The staff was helpful and attentive, and the location was perfect for my needs, with everything I needed to do in short walking distance of the hotel. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely consider staying there again on my next visit.

Things I liked and things I didn't...

I really wanted to love this hotel. The location was excellent, the staff were great, and the building was very beautiful. The Riggsby also had really good food--probably the best wedge salad I've ever had. Overall, it was worth the stay. Here are the things I liked: the pillows were comfortable, the lighting was better than most hotels, and the elevators were quick and readily available (not always the case in older buildings). The room was a decent size for a downtown location and the shower was easy to figure out and had ample hot water. Also, you could text the front desk for assistance or housekeeping needs, which was very convenient. But there are a few things I wish were different about The Carlyle. First, I really did not like the memory foam mattress. It was too warm and not quite comfortable enough for me. Another odd feature was the storage. There was very little space to store anything behind doors and drawers, leaving our room feeling cluttered the entire week. Similarly, the towels were on an open shelf below the sink, which also happened to be next to the toilet...not exactly a place I'd expect to find clean towels. Also, the hotel guide stated they had bluetooth speakers available to borrow; however, the speaker we got did not work and there seemed to be little staff understanding of how to use them. With a few small tweaks, The Carlyle could be a truly special hotel.

Convenient and comfortable place to stay!

Pros: Nice memory foam mattresses and very prompt to make up the room each day.
Cons: Coffee condiments in packages seem wasteful if all you want is some creamer. Just some of those in the refrigerator would be more efficient.
The hotel was comfortable and convenient to my conference, the zoo, downtown and the Mall. Also restaurants and convenience stores within easy walk in a lovely neighborhood. The hotel restaurant is also very good, and seems popular locally--need a reservation for dinner on weekends, and it also gets very noisy! but lively!

Nice Hotel and Staff

I loved the hotel and staff. They offered complimentary wine and coffee daily. The room was comfortable and pretty spacious. Beware-overnight parking is more than fifty dollars a day!

Nice personal hotel

Pros: Nice, clean rooms with charm. Wonderful staff.
Cons: A lot of noise at night from outside the hotel. Sometimes it sounds like construction work and other times, it was people talking in the alley.
Location: Food is great nearby, Near embassies
my wife and I stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the hotel, our room and the staff. Close to the Metro and great eateries. Nightly, wine tasting was great to sit and talk with other visitors. Nice touch.

Welcoming & Comfy Stay in DuPont Circle

Pros: High points are comfort and staff with a real eye to the guests. I'd like to single out the front desk, the room service wait staff, & Manny out front
Cons: I can't think of much; after all, nothing is perfect for every single one of us.
Location: I like Kramerbooks and the Women's National Democratic Club.
I really enjoy the spaces in this boutique hotel. From it's quieter location in Embassy Row neighborhood (with restaurants and bookstores) to the lobby gathering space and attractive rooms. People can mingle for morning coffee or early evening wine. The restaurant is very good and room service also! I also love the location for access to metro trains.

It was a nice experience for the most part. The room was very clean and comfortable. I did get an early wakeup call at 5:15 one morning that I was not supposed to get (mine was requested for 7:30). But I know the guy just made a mistake. However could not sleep after that.
