Housekeeping was not good. Hotel in general did not live up to Hyatt Regency branding. Seemed cheap at best. Great location is why it was chosen in the first place.

Can't get bottled water.

LOCATION- Great location. 3 blocks from The Capitol, Union Station, and 2 Metro stops. Hotel was clean. Rooms were clean and very basic. RESTAURANT Article One) breakfast buffet was decent. But overpriced at $25. Busboy completely cleaned my table (and my coffee) as we were getting a second serving. He apologized. Best value for food was the deli across the street which is small and above a liquor store. NO WATER - The biggest knock on this hotel is access to bottled water or soda. there are only vending machines on the second floor and for the two nights in a row I checked they were mostly empty (Unless you like light blue Gatorade). The front desk made some excuse that they were unexpectedly busy but I find that a terrible excuse. There should be machines on each floor and fully stocked. there is a small shop on the main floor but also overpriced. Water was $3.49. And after 11pm when the shop closes you can't get bottled water in the hotel. I didn't try room service. POOL was small but nice for kids. Disappointed there was no hot tub. They were out of towels one of two nights. Which really stinks when you expect towels and are wet. Another knock on service. VALUE - I paid $150/nt which I still feel was a good value given the location and would still recommend it.

Friendly City Hotel

Cons: The only concern we had was the slipperiness of the walkways around the pool, which had been painted with an enamel type paint.
We recently brought our two young grandsons for a weekend mini vacation in Washington DC. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating for two grandparents and tow preschoolers.. One of the staff members went over and beyond herb duties. When we came back to our hotel room, there were two stuffed dinosaurs and a plate full of delicious cookies and milk in our room with a very sweet note. (Thanks Raven!) Our grandsons were thrilled. The room itself was clean and inviting. Meals, while a little pricey, were comparable to the restaurants in the neighborhood. But, the food was delicious and served by attentive wait staff. All in all, a wonderful stay--and we would do it again.

Ok for the money.

Nice Hotel. The facility is very convenient to the Capital and the Mall... However, it is very popular with large groups and conferences... making for a facility that gets very hard use. Although it is branded as a Hyatt Regency... the hotel rooms and overall appearance are more in line with a very basic 4 star hotel. If you keep your expectations in line with a business casual concept rather than formal business... you will be ok.

Good location, excellent staff

Very good service, exceptional concierge - polite and very helpful Room is not large, but clean and quite comfortable. Good fitness room, pool is quite small and in decent condition, sauna is not perfect but also free of charge; internet is free and relatively fast. Location is very good: 10 min walk to Capitol, 25-30 min walk to White House.

Not ideal location, but good for the price.

Pros: Quiet room, excellent staff.
Cons: Pillows. A small table next to the chair by the window.
Location: It is about a 15 minute walk to the closest tourist attraction, the Capitol.
The location is a bit farther from some of the tourist spots than I would have preferred, but it was right for the cost. The rooms are clean and quiet considering my room was directly across from a firehouse. Beds were comfortable, but would have preferred an option of pillows types instead of all the same type. Breakfast buffet was average, the waitstaff excellent, but the food was not necessarily worth the $25 cost. Would rather walk a bit and find a more unique local option. The hotel is also located in the same block as a men's homeless shelter and I was a bit uncomfortable upon first approaching the hotel not knowing this, in the dark with all of my luggage coming from the Metro with several men huddled together and some sleeping on the ground outside the building. Also, I was approached a couple of times by some asking for money.

Very nice hotel, being on Capitol Hill is awesome.

Hotel staff was very professional and polite. We were taken very well care of. Hotel looks very upscale and also has the feel, but while being priced very reasonably. Next time I come back to DC, I will for sure stay here again.

Overnight stopover

Pros: efficient desk staff, clean room, nice toiletries.
Cons: Nada
this is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel. the first time I had a junior suite which was very comfortable. this time I had a "superior" room, which overlooked the atrium of the hotel. The desk staff was very competent and easily handled check in and check out. the room was large enough to be comfortable, although I am not sure why this would be superior to other rooms. Other than the fact that the valet parking was extremely expensive, I find this hotel to be a good choice and very convenient to areas around the courthouses and the Capitol. I would definitely stay here again.
