"perfect location!"
We were in Venice for one night only - pre Mediterranean Cruise. I booked this hotel at the last minute in spite of some terrible reviews however it was in the perfect location - steps from San Marco Square. It may not be up to other's standards as far as comfort and style for the price however it was what one might expect of an old authentic European hotel in a city like Venice. Somewhat decadent style. The room was small, but this was expected, however the bathroom was large, updated and clean. Helpful staff. The restaurant food was quite good for the price. I was pleasantly surprised and would stay there again simply for the location.

"Great location away from the tourist traps"
This hotel is located in a more residential area of Venice. When you walk outside you are more likely to see locals going about their business rather than hordes of tourists. It is close to the ghetto and Vaporetto stops. Staff were friendly and helpful. For example, a barman acted as a facilitator to arrange for us to share a water taxi to the airport with another couple.  The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was as comfortable as my own. My only complaint is that the lighting in the room was rather dim. Our booking included the breakfast buffet. This was excellent, with coffee, juices, yoghurt, fruits, cereals, cold cuts, bacon, scrambled eggs, cakes, croissants and cookies.

"Beautiful Hotel Steps from St. Mark's Square"
I stayed at the Hotel Colombina July 25th and 26th. I had just completed a cruise and wanted to extend my stay in Venice. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful in arranging transportation from the port. A water taxi was reserved and ready to go. We arrived at the hotel and were warmly greeted by Filipo. He gave us an orientation to the hotel and Venice. Using a map, he helped us decide where to go and what to see. He suggested a lovely restaurant, Remers, for dinner. It was not easy to find, but we were successful. Dinner was delicious. Our room was overlooking the canal and was beautifully decorated. What a magical setting to be able to open your window and see and hear the gondolas go by! Priceless! It was quite hot in Venice on the days we were there, but the room was nice and cool. The air-conditioning worked great! The public rooms in the hotel were lovely - the reception room, bar area and breakfast room. Breakfast was very nice in a very Venetian dining room. What a great way to start the day. Not only was the hotel beautiful and comfortable, it was in a great location. You are just steps from St. Mark's Square, shopping and restaurants (gelato too). If I ever return to Venice, I will definitely stay at the Hotel Colombina again and would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to beautiful Venice!

"Great location in San Marco - newly renovated room"
This hotel is right on the main designer shopping street directly across from Burberry. However despite its location, it is not loud at night - even with the little pub downstairs. The rooms are pretty well sound proofed from the street noise. My room was on the second floor facing the front so the potential for interrupted sleep was definitely there. The rooms are lovely with a very chic decor and wooden beams add a nice touch of coziness. I stayed here with my family of 4 - 2 teen children included - and the hotel was very accommodating to help us fit into the 2 room suite with the 2 bathrooms. It did included leveraging a pull out couch and a cot - but my kids were so excited to have their own space and bathroom. The front desk staff was very professional and offered help at each question. They were very well organized and it was impressive that they knew every member of my family as we came in. We never needed to say our name or room number to pick up our room key. The service is personalized which makes one feel very special. The only negative feedback on this hotel and the reason why I did not give it a total 5 is because I found the beds and pillows quite uncomfortable. One pillow is rock hard and the other is so soft is may as well be filled with air. The beds are really hard too and I found myself with restless sleep for the nights I was there. My husband had the same issues so I know it was not just me.
