RUDE, NOT ACCOMMODATING, HOT ROOMS

Pros: The outside
Cons: Accommodation procedures, welcoming staff that actually smiles and wants to make sure your stay is pleasant.
Location: Great location in San Marco, lots of shops, but stay at Hotel Kette instead!
We arrived and were shown to our room on the 4th floor, where we immediately noticed a temp. issue upon entering our room. It is well known that Italy, along with many other countries are having a severe heat wave, with Venice not being any different. The temp. in our room was 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit. In an effort to lower the temp., we were unsuccessful, as the gauge would not decrease (even after a few hours). I went to the lobby and asked the concierge for help, where he told me that the maintenance crew was not in until the following morning, but that the temperature in our room was normal and not broken. He even showed us the lobby temp. being the same. However, in a large lobby where air can flow is much different than a small room on the top floor where air has no place to go. With the lack of help from the hotel, we could not bare to sleep there or avoid cooling off from the severe heat outside, so we decided to get another hotel around the corner who were very accommodating. Upon our arrival back to hotel flora, we packed our bags a mere 2 hours after checking in and checked out. In this process, the manager of the hotel argued with me the temp. is NORMAL and his household has the same temp. and continued by lecturing me about the risk of going from hot to cold (outside to inside). Instead of trying to accommodate us and maybe switch our room, or get a maintenance person to check the thermostat, I was rudely spoken to and reminded that my booking was nonrefundable.
