Umpteenth trip to Manhattan

Great location, friendly staff, expected to store our luggage as we arrived early morning. Huge kudos for allowing us to check in early. However, have stayed in Manhattan more times than we can count, even New Years eve and this was the most uncomfortable room we have ever stayed in. They tried, chair in entrance hallway, enough to sit and put your shoes on. Tried to sit in the lovely bench under window. Please try adding pillows. Towels, robes were wonderful. Matress was comfortable but bed literally moved everywhere. We woke each other up constently. Really tried to like this hotel but cant recommend. Oh, and cant comprehend what the door/window slat things were in and out of the bathroom. Cant describe, dont want to be disrespective but my husband and I are of average weight and getting in and out of the bathroom was difficult. Truely, I would only recommend this room equiped with a queen bed to a slim single traveler with a backpack or carry on. However, if you would like more, you can obtain it for the same price within a block.

Nice Option Near Theaters

We spent one night at the Mansfield and I was pleased with the stay. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and it was well located for our quick Broadway visit trip. I found the room was a little bright because of the blinds which made it a bit hard to sleep--nothing that some pull-down shades wouldn't fix.

Very good location to everything.

This was my first visit to NYC I was not sure what to expect. I promise you the Mansfield hotel is your best choice. They have everything you need and the staff was very helpful. I never had to take a cab I was able to walk everywhere and the subway is right there to. I was very happy with my stay.

Terrible Experience

Cons: Everything
In July, I booked a room with two double beds for Mid November. We arrived in NYC early and were not able to check into the Mansfield until 3 pm. The hotel was kind enough to hold our luggage until we returned to check in at three o'clock when we were informed that they could only give us a room with one double bed and a pull out couch. Why couldn't they tell us that when we dropped our luggage off at 10 am? So basically we had no choice but to accept a room that was far less than adequate for our needs. They were not sympathetic to the fact that we truly needed a room with two double beds. Nor did they offer blankets or pillows for the guest that was banished to the pull out couch! There were never enough towels. We had to beg time and again for enough towels. The description of the hotel stated that they provided bath robes...LIES! Philosophy bath products? More lies!! The wood floors gave me splinters on the bottom of my feet more than once. The rooms are dark and dingy and difficult to see in.

Dark, depressing room

Pros: Location and historic lobby.
Cons: Redecorate dingy rooms & improve lighting. Assure bathrooms are fully stocked with towels, washcloths & bath mats. Hire friendly, professional staff.
Location: Close to Broadway theatres, shopping on 5th Ave and Times Square.
I do not recommend the Mansfield Hotel for multiple reasons: my room didn't have a window to the outside so no natural light and lamp lighting was poor. The room was dark, depressing and felt like a prison cell. Took 3 days for housekeeping to stock the room with a washcloth and bath mat. The "Business Center" was a joke. The internet connection on the only computer moved at dial-up speed. Finally gave up and just did everything on my iPhone. Women who work the front desk are rude and uncaring. (Male staff were better and more professional.) Night desk staff don't pay attention to who is coming or going which presents safety concerns. I walked in at 2 a.m. one night and the front desk person had headphones on, was watching something on a laptop and didn't even look up. Only positives I could find for this hotel is the location and historic feel of the lobby. But - that's not enough to compensate for all of the other shortcomings.

Nice hotel in Theater District NYC

Pros: Convenient
Cons: Bathroom size
Location: Close to Times Square and Theaters
Hotel was very clean and convenient to Times Square and Theaters. Rooms are small and bathroom was extremely small. Nothing fancy but had all the basic needs for a place to sleep and freshen up.

Nice and cozy hotel.

Cons: The only thing I did not like is that they don't have the facility for ice and water in the rooms. We asked in the front desk and they got us ice.
Location: Near of Time Square.m
This hotel is a small but cozy hotel. It is clean and well located.

Overnight for theatre

Pros: Clean and nicely refinished. Location
Cons: Breakfast choices
Location: Close to Broadway and many good restaurants. Far enough from Times Square so not too noisy on quiet side street.
We chose the Mansfield because it was close to Broadway and liked the pictures on line. It was clean and freshly painted. It is a typical NY small hotel room that has been renovated nicely and is very convenient to mid town and Broadway just off 5th Ave. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant was nice and the waitress was friendly. Menu was limited and pricey. They were out of both bananas and skim milk for the cereal at 8:15 AM. There are better options for breakfast nearby. That was the only negative. Food we did get was good. Short cab ride from Penn Station and AMTRAC. Walked to a good Italian restaurant then saw "Beautiful" We would stay again.

Great location for mid-town business meetings.

Pros: Location
Cons: While the hotel has a lot of charm, the bathroom could be improved upon.
Location: Business meetings, shopping, great location to begin adventures.
This was my first stay at The Mansfield. While I had opted for the cheapest (smallest) room, I really liked the ambience of the hotel and the convenient location to my business meetings. The bar was lively and the food was very good.

Cozy Home Hotel

Pros: The location is great. A couple of blocks from Times Square
Cons: The window seats need improvement and the air conditioner units need to be more secured in the window.
The hotel staff was very, very accommodating and personable. The rooms are a little dated (just a little) but overall, very quaint and cozy.
