The Keystone State's urban cities--Pittsburgh and Philadelphia--serve as bookends on what is a naturally resplendent swath of forests, farmland, mountain scenery, and charming small towns. Book a Pennsylvania hotel and see things from America's most important Civil War battlefield. You can also check out top-level sports franchises, or seek the great outdoors with a camping and hiking trip. The western part of the state is dominated by the Pittsburgh metro area. Rooted in steel and American industrial might, today's Pittsburgh pays homage to that past while standing as a modern city with a wide range of fun things to do and see. From the Duquesne Incline and Mount Washington, you get spectacular views of the city where the rivers meet. Eastern Pennsylvania is home to the Philadelphia area, where liberty was bred in Revolutionary War days.
Your vacation to this unique part of the country will probably start with flights to Pennsylvania cities. Don't forget to explore the interior, though. Gettysburg National Military Park pays homage to the bloodiest battle of the Civil War and inspires visitors with the words of President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Beyond the battlefield, the city is quickly becoming a foodie destination. To the north and west, the forest lands offer hiking, biking, fishing, and loads of outdoor fun as well as cheap Pennsylvania resorts. Explore the wild areas between Williamsport and Lake Erie to get a feel for what the countryside was like before settlement. Back in Philadelphia, visit Independence National Historic Park to read the story of the Liberty Bell. At the Philadelphia Museum of Art, view masterworks, and, on the way in, run up the "Rocky Steps," made famous by Sylvester Stallone's character. Choose from among many hotels in Philadelphia or resorts in Pennsylvania with Travelocity. You can save up to $537 when you book a hotel and flight at the same time.
Hotels in Pennsylvania start at $45 per night. Prices and availability subject to change. Additional terms may apply.
