We experienced several issues that limited our enjoyment of the property.
1) after we received a confirmation email that provided the gate code and security system code, we did not receive the front door code.
It took more than hour on the phone, during which several excuses were made by turnkey and documentation was requested to verify our identities. An hour during which we were pulled over on a highway due to reception issues.
Security is great, but we already had been given the gate code and the security system code. So it seemed like the property management bumbling rather than an actual security measure.
2) We asked if the water at the house was potable (a common question for rentals in the area). We received the response that it was not, then a follow up response during the gate code debacle stating yes the water is potable, then an email stating no, not potable.
After staying there, it appeared the water was potable. A clear and accurate response would have been appreciated.
3) the stovetop worked fine, but the oven took 30 minutes to heat to 185 degrees.and leaked gas into the home. Obviously not operational. It took a somewhat frantic hour to purge the smell from the home. Needless to say, we did not get to use the oven during our stay.
4) in grabbing an oven mitt for holding a hot pan, I put oven mitt#1 back due to obvious damage. Oven mitt #2 looked better, but had a giant , unseen hole in the seem of the forefinger, which was perfectly positioned to receive a blistering burn on said finger.
5) while this may be petty, there was no laundry detergent in the home. The listing said a 'starter supply' would be provided. A little irritated by issues 1-4, we made a point of asking for the detergent. A delivery was promised by the management company...and the delivery never arrived.
6) this is definitely petty - homes in the area tend to provide local coffee, and sometimes local produce as a welcome gift. There was a coffee container in a basket that appeared to be used for this purpose but was conspicuously empty. We don't expect or require freebies, but we just thought that it was funny.
7) and the biggest concern: there is a security camera pointing directly at the primary bedroom, directly at the bed. Blinds can occlude it's view, but they were open when we arrived.
Overall, an incredible, beautiful home - but an experience ruined by the management, safety concerns, and privacy concerns.
