OUTRIGGER Kaanapali Beach Resort
"Overall it was nice for an older hotel. We did have bugs but figured out it was the cleaning lady leaving the door open to clean. I did not think $500 for activities was worth it. I also would not recommend the restaurant on the beach, I was served warm salad with dairy. Finally, $100 to rent a lawn ..."

Downtown Lahaina Hotel Guide\n
When you think of getting away from it all, your daydreams swell with the rising tide and the sweet scent of grilled pineapple and smoked fish. Your mind’s eye catches a glimpse of coconut palms and historic boardwalks, and you can almost sway with the rhythm of traditional Polynesian dances passed down through generations. You, dear traveler, have Lahaina on your mind. Embraced between the immense West Maui Forest Reserve and Lahaina Roads—a channel in the Pacific Ocean—Lahaina was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii during the early 19th century. The seaside landscape has not changed much since Lahaina’s royal years, and even many of the hotels in downtown Lahaina harken back to historic Hawaii. See your imagination come to life as you explore “The Valley Island" from mountain tops to sea level. Every adventure starts with a slew of questions, so let us set your mind at ease as you prepare for the vacation of your dreams.
Can I go whale watching in Lahaina?
Yes, you most certainly can go whale watching in Lahaina. In fact, several ferry excursions and cruises depart from uptown and downtown Lahaina. Many of these aquatic adventures are scheduled in the morning and early afternoon, when the sun is bright and visibility is clear. Watch the kings and queens of the sea engage in acrobatics as they breech and flip through the air, and when all is still take the opportunity to turn your gaze (and camera lens) inland to the mountains blanketed in foliage and dew. If your tour leaves early from the docks near the village center, book one of the downtown Lahaina hotels, such as Aina Nalu Lahaina by Outrigger, and wake up fresh-faced and ready to explore the sea. On the northern edge of Lahaina, many travelers catch sight of the majestic marine mammals near Kaanapali Beach. If that includes you, consider booking a stay at Aston at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach, just steps from golden sand.
What are some fun things to do in Lahaina when it rains?
Lahaina’s landscape is lavish and lush thanks to warm, tropical showers and plenty of sun. When it rains on the west coast of Maui, there’s always a silver lining waiting to shine. One of the best things to do when it rains in Lahaina is to strap on your sandals and dance in the downpour—beaches go abandoned and as long as thunder cracks at a distance, a drizzly shoreline is peaceful and idyllic. But if fat drops on the window put you in a contemplative mood, settle in for a rich cultural performance at Maui Theatre on Front Street. Of course, when you feel the first wave of mist on your face, retiring to the comfort and amenities of your hotel is a fabulous idea. Take a nap to prepare for an upcoming late-night luau or swap hiking stories with fellow travelers in the lobby.
Whether your trip to Lahaina takes you out on the water seeking majestic sea creatures, or wandering along a quiet coastline, book cheap hotels in downtown Lahaina with Travelocity. A relaxing hideaway in Maui’s historic village awaits. Let your imagination run wild. And wander wisely.

"Great place for a family vacation. Property has 2 great pools, beautiful grounds and a fantastic beach you can snorkel right from your hotel. Pools and hot tubs are open until 10. Washer and Dryer in room is terrific. You can rent snorkel gear, beach chairs life jackets anything you need from the little beach hut. You are near everything including a food truck spot, grocery store, restaurants and a boardwalk that goes all the way to whalers village and black rock. We had Safeway deliver groceries the day we got in and it was so nice to have snacks and breakfast available to Mae in the hotel room full kitchen. Rey from the bell hop team was amazing!"
