You will not forget a weekend spent at Windbeam House, 6 miles from charming Red Wing, Minnesota. Floor-to-ceiling living room windows offer spectacular views of not only Goose Lake but also the bluffs of historic Red Wing across the river.

This tree-lined panorama provides breath-taking year round scenery, including miles of the Mississippi's famous fall foliage and ever changing waters. Because the house sits on the edge of the bluff above the lake, it is a perfect spot to sit and relax, watching a wide array of birds and animals, including eagles and flocks of migratory swans and pelicans in season, not to mention trains passing silently along the edge of the lake below.

This four bedroom rambler sleeps 12 with one full bath and two half baths, a family room, full kitchen and dining room. Only one hour from Minneapolis/St.Paul or Rochester, Minnesota, this home offers a retreat for groups from 2-12.

And while it is hard not to be mesmerized by the view, it is also within a few miles of shopping, hiking, fishing, golf, snowshoeing and skiing. Not to mention an extensive arts community, restaurants, antique dealers, the Sheldon Theater and Treasure Island Casino.

This peaceful house is pet friendly and comfortably furnished in southwestern style. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen size bed and includes a private half bath. The other three bedrooms have double beds. Downstairs, the family room offers two full futon sofas.

Four generations of our family have come together in this home and now we look forward to sharing it with you.

Wedding party retreat
I know its Minnesota and near a lake, however the outside was covered with spiders and webs and needed cleaning attention. With some spiders and webs inside. My friends house located not far from here was not covered with webs and spiders. Shoe removal was requested but carpets showed many stains. Definitely older dated home with a stale smell inside. Like visiting older grandparents. Older mattresses. Otherwise it worked out

Terrific place to stay while attending family wedding

The house was perfect for a family gathering. Trudy was a joy to communicate with. She went above and beyond to try to make our trip exactly what we wanted. The house was comfortable and we were able to find everything we needed. I would recommend staying here to anybody!

Shalom! Great stay for our golf group.
This was a great place to stay for our golf group. We're a group of Jewish businessmen that gather every year to network over some golf - very accommodating! Trudi was a great host - we were allowed an early check-in. We LOVE the Windbeam house - we'll keep coming back year-after-year!

Good Potential… needs more TLC
First, I can appreciate all of the positive points/features listed in the description, which is partially what drew us to this place. As another reviewer stated, this place has so much potential & possibly served many back in it's prime. However, I wish more reviewers were honest & the pictures were updated so we knew what to expect. * We didn't expect to have to deep clean the entire property before we could feel comfortable enjoying ourselves! * We understand, that there will be bugs per the notes left by the host. BUT getting accosted by them the minute we opened the door to walk IN the house only to be greeted by MORE bugs, spiders and LOTS of cobwebs etc., is NOT acceptable! * Unable to open windows to help with the musky smell & dumped the dehumidifier multiple times. * Trash was left from prior guests found in several spots inside the house * The edges of the carpets were black & dust bunny ridden. We decided we did not want the next people to deal with having to clean before being able to utilize the property, so it took us a bit longer to check-out so that it was left cleaner than when we arrived. When the hosts arrived they were not very friendly towards us and made no effort to communicate or ask how our stay was. There were lots of charming touches throughout the house to enjoy, many different birds greeted us daily. We wish we would have just been able to walk in and enjoy all the wonderful features the description gives, sadly it just wasn't our experience.

So many cons and few pros
This house has so much potential - needs a deep cleaning and updated TLC. Pros: clean linens, lots of towels, great areas to meet with family, nice view. Plenty of space. Great decorations from southwest and Mexico. Cons: carpet edges near walls were black, dust bunnies around edges of wooden floors, lamp in one bedroom that was touchy with power so just unplugged it for safety purposes, cobwebs, windows outdated so they couldn't be opened, horrible squeaky mattress downstairs, very few 3 prong sockets, TVs did not get reception or just didn't work. Smelled musty throughout the house. No regularly used items- like sugar, sweetener. View to the river was obscured by tall weeds. For the price of staying there - I was expecting luxury. So disappointing.

Friend reunion and wedding
We had a wonderful time! This house was the perfect place for 12 of us, who have been friends for 20+ years, to reunite and attend a wedding just over the border in MN! Highly recommended!
