Florida City is a community located in (surprise!) Florida, about 30 miles southwest of Miami. Situated practically on the doorstep of Everglades National Park, this is a great gateway to this famous, delicate ecosystem that protects species ranging from the American crocodile to the Florida panther. Staying at one of the Florida City hotels puts you in an excellent position to take advantage of both the urban opportunities of Miami and the mystical charm of the Everglades.
Visiting Florida City
Cruise in to Miami International Airport (MIA) and head up to level three of the terminal to catch the free MIA Mover to Florida Central Station. Here, you can switch to the MetroRail orange line. Ride this all the way south to the Dadeland South MetroRail station and switch to bus route 38 to take you the rest of the way. Or you can rent a car in Florida City to help you easily get around. If you don't organize a car before your trip, there is a rental car center at Florida Central Station. Once you arrive, settle in at one of the great hotels in Florida City and make a trip out to the Everglades. You can rent a canoe, join a kayaking tour, or hike one of the many land trails if boats aren't your thing. Back in Florida City, be sure to check out the Florida Pioneer Museum, where you can explore regional history and artifacts. But that isn't all there is to southern Florida! As long as you're passing through Miami, why not take advantage of some of the excellent Miami hotel deals and set aside a day or two to explore the city?
