Dear A, Thank you for taking the time to post your recent experience here at the Principal Edinburgh George Street. We are delighted that your stay exceeded your expectations and you had a wonderful stay! After our recent refurbishment we relaunched a new image of the property to a more sophisticated, classic luxury style. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our seasonal menu that combines the Scottish cuisine with a more modern twist. Moreover, I have to admit being more delighted and proud of your comments about the staff as we have personalized our training to a more customized focus training. Thank you again and we hope we will have the opportunity to award us with your loyalty in the near future where a warm welcome awaits you! Kind regards, Christina Efthymiou Guest Relations Manager

Disappointed

Pros: The staff was kind. The concierge held our luggage for us until check in time and then again until time for our train.
Cons: Air conditioning, control over movement in the ally.
Location: Excellent location, close to Castle and Royal Mile. Good restaurants and pubs.
The room we were given overlooked the bottle recycling station. Three times a day (including early morning, and late in the evening) , the recycling truck emptied its contents (of bottles) just below our window. You can imagine waking to the clinking sound of broken glass! It was uncharacteristically hot (or so we were told), the room did not have air conditioning, the windows only opened 3-4 inches and a fan was not provided. In addition, the guests of an event made their way into the ally and managed to "serenade" us with their drunken rendition of who knows what. The location was perfect, the room was nice, it was clean, a king size bed separated into twins but the conditions were appalling. It was an expensive hotel, the staff was kind but we had a miserable stay. I regret our choice.

Dear D, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience here at the Principal Edinburgh George Street Hotel! The staff's goal is to make the guest feel comfortable and always welcomed. We are delighted that in this case we exceed your expectations! We are disappointed that the temperature of your room was too high to make you feel comfortable. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Sincerely, Guest Relations

This hotel is in a perfect location in Edinburgh. We where in a room on the first floor . Rm 66. it is perfect. Quiet. you don't have to wait for an elevator and you can come and go really easily. There is a wonderful vegan/ veg restaurant right around the corner. The hotel's own restaurants are great. There in not a single reason not to stay at this hotel.

Location , Location, Location

Beautiful accommodations located within easy walking distance to Castle /Royal Mile . Walk to the train Station and Rabbie’s, should you have day trips in mind . Be sure to have dinner at Fishers (seafood) just around the block from your hotel The Principal !

What room you don't want.

Pros: Where is was located and the staff.
Cons: Make people move from smoking right by the front door. You have to go through smoke from both sides or right in front.
Location: Every thing is close. Food and buses. Train is not far.
The hotel is great. Very easy to get everywhere either by bus, train or walking. The only problem is the rooms by the alleys. The alleys back up to many many building including pubs. So the noise( people walking in alley and cars etc) is loud all night long( we had to be moved ).Then the trash pick up starts at 6 am. So you get the noise of bottles crashing in the bins. The staff are wonderful Peter at front door and Laura at the desk are both the greatest. We were there 12 days and wish it could have been longer. The only problem we could see was people standing right outside the front doors smoking. We got lots of second hand smoke for them every time we came and went. I would make that disappear if I owned or ran it. Another thing I also would change is to go with Rabbies for all your tours they are the best.Others rip you off we tried one other .Peter told us to us Rabbies and he was right. Way to go Peter we missed seeing you when we left.
