Cons: My room had a desk and chair, but no easy chair. The room was small, with only a double bed which suited me fine.
Location: A good selection of restaurants nearby. I especially liked the Flat Top Grill and The Goddess and the Baker. The State Street Shopping District.
The Silversmith is close to everything. Within a few blocks you'll find restaurants, shopping, Millennium Park, and the Magnificent Mile. There are many CTA stops in the vicinity providing easy (and affordable) access around town. The hotel is well maintained, attractive, and clean with an unobtrusive, helpful staff.

Weekend In Chicago

Pros: I liked the decor, and the free bottled water they offered.
Cons: Leave more shampoo and conditioner
I would have given 5 excellent rating, but the first morning we showered, we did not have any shower soap. I had to take the hand soap from the sink and use it for the shower. Also there was just an outside shower curtain, no inside shower curtain and on the curtain that was there was a lot of men's long dark body hairs. We did tell the front desk and they put soap and actually put an inside shower curtain in which had been missing for us. The only other issue was we ran out of shampoo and conditioner because it wasn't replenish every other day. The staff was very professional and the doorman opened the doors promptly. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

Clean, comfortable, close-in........

Pros: Cleanliness, location
Cons: Everything related to the kitchen/food-served.
Location: Convenient to the "L" - direct Orange Line to Midway Airport
Friendly staff, great location, but,HORRIBLE BREAKFAST! I could cook better with my eyes closed! I ordered Eggs Benedict: eggs over-done, meat blackened, cold hollandaise sauce, greasy potatoes, all served on a COLD plate with no garnish whatsoever. And two of these breakfasts with coffee was something like $50! The hotel is a good place to stay. But, DO NOT EAT THERE!

Gorgeous Hotel

We don't get a chance to travel often and this hotel had 4 stars and was close to our son's graduation. We're SO happy we stayed here - truly a lovely hotel and experience

Wish there was a higher rating for hotel staff

I traveled to Chicago for work and since the hotel I usually stay at was booked, I chose The Silversmith instead. The rooms are lovely, the bed and pillows are comfortable. Great bathroom space. I cannot say enough about the staff. One bellman waited next to me to make sure I got money out of the ATM safely. Another walked me around the corner to 7-11 because it was dark. He waited for me to purchase what I needed and walked me back. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean, the food is delicious and the staff is also very friendly, professional, and quick. A+ across the board for this hotel.
