Locals say the best way to get to Chelsea is to fly into Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Travel from EWR on the AirTrain, going via Newark Penn Station and toward the World Trade Center; the entire journey takes just over an hour. Cheap car rentals in Chelsea are plentiful, so if you're using Chelsea as your base, this a good option. Choose from a variety of Chelsea hotels and book in for your stay, unless you prefer one of the cheap hotels in New York City. Get an extraordinary overview of Chelsea from the High Line, an abandoned elevated railway line that has been turned into a public park. Stroll along the walkways, sit and enjoy views of the city, and take exits to ground level at Gansevoort Street or West 14th to 28th Streets. Take a taste tour at Chelsea Market, where a whole city block that contained a biscuit factory is now a giant food hall. Get your fill of dance, drama, and comedy at the Joyce Theater and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, where you'll see international and local artists perform. As well as offering cheap hotels near Chelsea, this neighborhood is regarded as the center of the art world of NYC.

"The Sheraton is in an excellent location, only three blocks to Carnegie Hall, easy walking to theaters and Times Square, as well as Central Park. However, As mentioned in their blurb, check in is crazy busy, slow and understaffed. In fact staff are not that friendly, except for the awesome cleaning staff. And to mention now, the elevators are confusing to use, because the staff did not explain how to use them. We observed many guest having to help other guests to find their floor…thank goodness for the help of others. Now if you happen to bring back left overs from their restaurants…good luck in finding the “Goodwill” donated microwave that is supposed to be located on only a select few floors where even staff are not up to date on which floor that might be. Once found, it’s merely at the elevator area of the chosen floor, and good luck if you are on an upper floor, as you have to descend, with the steaming hot food, back to the lobby where you have to re enter your floor from the master control panel, inconvenient to say the least, and totally lowers the status of a higher end hotel experience. Also inconvenient, insulting, rude and embarrassing is if you have already checked out and are waiting for transportation, heaven forbid you need to use the toilet facilities, you’ll need your room key for that! I was fortunate to have a very kind and helpful baggage storage attendant to walk me down and open the door for me. Others, weren’t so lucky. Yet, the beds were super comfy!"

"clean room. great location. nice staff. This is an affordable hotel in the middle of it all. You can walk to all the shows. A trek to Dumbo is about 30 min by train. You can walk (1 mi or so—20 min at my pace) to both bus terminals. The rooms were clean. I didn’t hear noise or construction on the 26th floor. The only downside was the lobby bathroom was closed when my son tried to use it upon check out. It seems like no one was actively cleaning/repairing (whatever they claimed at the time) it at the time while we waited. We didn’t eat the breakfast bc we’re in NYC (bagels, duh!). Lots of ppl were milling about the dining area though. Go early if you don’t want chaos."
