The location is perfect but the hotel is going through renovations right now. They are nice renovations and everything is kept neat and clean. No loud renovations during evenings. The property will be beautiful once renovations are complete.

We loved the front desk staff, the breakfast staff, and the cleaning gals! Also, the staff were all sympathetic when my wallet was stolen out of my bag on the patio and even did some searching on the grounds for it. We would have appreciated knowing about the construction in the building ahead of time.

Comfortable room

Wanted to take the bed and pillows home. Just a bithard to get to. Shuttle was great!!!

This hotel is top notch! The customer service was very professional and the hotel is super nice. Our room was fantastic! Very clean and a nice space with a balcony. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Charleston area. They have complimentary wine and cheese (or other snack) everyday and a stellar breakfast, too! The staff really cares about their customers and go the extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Great price for the room, too! Thank you Marriott Charleston, y'all are the best!

Pros: the location...that was about all
Cons: Cooler halls, cooler rooms, more experienced staff...and more of them.
Location: Within 5 to 15 minutes of a LOT of activity, including Aquarium and harbor tour. This part we liked.
This appears to be a (recently) refurbished hotel - quick paint job and some coverups. Nothing TERRIBLE, just not worth the cost of the room. I expected more for the money - more staff - more assistance - better air conditioning. Halls are HOT and musty smelling, and the room was only marginally better. We could only get the wimpy air conditioner to get the room coolish - not hot, but not cool. Toilet clogged at 10 pm and the ONLY person on staff "didn't know where to find a plunger, and the maintenance man is gone and his area is locked up". We would have to wait to SEE what happened at 11 pm when the "auditor" (?) arrived to take over. I finally went to Walmart on my own to get a plunger - and the night manager beat me to it by a few minutes. The whole experience was just ODD - you have 100 rooms and are totally unprepared for evening issues? Slowest elevators I think I've ever seen. Hopelessly overcrowded "breakfast". Again...nothing HORRIBLE in our stay, but won't go back...not worth the money.

We appreciate your frustration with the air conditioning not functioning properly and assure you our engineering staff is working to ensure all units are well maintained so that our hotel and guest rooms are comfortable and cool. We are also sorry that we were not able to respond immediately to your plumbing issue causing you to be inconvenienced. We are working with our food and beverage team to continually improve our breakfast experience for all of our guests. What you described is not typical of our service, and we apologize for not meeting your expectations. Hotel was great

The hotel and staff were just great. We were under the impression that there was a shuttle to downtown but it only ran after 5. The front desk hooked us up with a taxi that only cost $10 for both of us and we caught the shuttle back at night. Much better deal than staying in town if you don't mind a small commute to downtown. The hotel was clean and everyone was friendly. Breakfast was ok but not great compared to any other food we had in town.

Not much bad to say about this place...

Found this great hotel on a last minute search once we arrived in Charleston. We got a wonderful deal on this hotel because it wasn't right in historical Charleston. The hotel does offer a free shuttle if you'd like to go though. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming upon check-in. I booked the wrong night and the young lady at the desk quickly corrected my mistake with no problem. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was one of the nicest I've ever had with a few hot items and a variety of choices, with fresh fruit and yogurt as well. The ladies who run the breakfast could definitely learn some people skills, though. They seemed like they detested their job. All in all I was very happy with our stay!
