The property is a little bit up from the historic district, but there is a free shuttle Charleston provides that is great and easy to use. It is far enough from the historic district to relax and be out of the tourist traffic. Easy to drive to. There is a great restaurant named Coastal that is in the business alley right next door. Perfect hotel for those with small children and a great breakfast area. Free coffee all day and they even include multiple flavors and decafe. Highly recommend. Friendly staff. On site parking is easy to use.

Almost Heaven
Our room at the Hampton Inn was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was fine, and the location of the hotel was excellent -- just across the street from the Visitors Center where many tours begin and end, and close to lots of interesting restaurants and shops. On the other hand, for $500+ a night, I think the room should have had a small fridge and a vault.

Outdated property that Needs Improvements.
This property looked promising at first. Gave 3 stars because staff tried to rectify situation. Our AC did not work, room needed some repair, room smelled of urine. Just overall not the best. Staff was very diligent in trying to help.

The hotel was very conveniently located. Very close to King Street. The hotel was a bit dated but clean and pretty. Our room and bathroom was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and the view of the courtyard pretty. The minifridge was super noisy but nice to have in the room. The breakfast was a nice amenity and it was lovely sitting ion the courtyard. We were not happy with Housekeeping. We were told at check in that if our room wasn't serviced, to let the front desk know and they would see what they could do. So basically their policy is to request housekeeping otherwise they would not service your room. Seems to be common in hotels now- had the same experience in New Orleans. In my opinion, Housekeeping should be part of the experience of staying in a hotel. The room was also noisy from the upstairs guests. Other than these items, it was a nice place to stay.
