"Awesome Family Vacation"
Such a fabulous place for families of all ages! The condos are big, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The area is amazing...so many activities, restaurants, a pool and a lakeside beach. We had such a terrific time with our grandsons!

"Close to everything. No driving."
Clean room. Comfy bed. Lighting so low. Why do hotels skimp on lighting? Doesn't anyone else read in bed anymore? This hotel also had overcharged water pressure, which is unheard of in these "green" times. Felt like pellets off my skin. Also, parking garage has 1 elevator. Park accordingly. And, $26 resort fee is added to room charges.

"Nice place, no sleep "
No sleep due to the room above us thumping/walking back and forth and slamming doors until 4:00am. May have been kids running around, who knows.

"Great condo at Squaw Valley."
The front desk staff was very friendly and informative upon check in and responded quickly to any calls and requests. We were upgraded from a standard hotel room to a one bedroom condo. The room was comfortable, clean and very nicely appointed. My only complaint would be that it was noisy! We were located directly above a couple of restaurants in the main corridor of the village and the crowds outside were very noisy until after about 11:00 p.m. Loved the condo and location was fun - but it was noisy.

"Nice big room."
First of all yes, there is a resort fee and I think its a lousy way to do business but I credit Travelocity for making it very clear so for me there was no surprise. The room was very large with two bathrooms which is a new on me. The internet you pay for with that stupid resort fee, that's why I didn't say free limits you to two devices. Not two at a time but two total so chose wisely. My wife logged in on her ipad and then tried to log in her laptop but no deal since I beat her to it. The pool is indoors but it really feels like it's outdoors. There are large glass windows above and a long sliding door opening the patio area up to the outdoors for warm sunny days. The buffet was much like many of the indian casinos that I've been to. Good but nowhere near the better Las Vegas casinos.

"Beautiful resort in a great location!"
This resort is located just a few miles north of Tahoe City. It was very well appointed and perks like the concierge service made it a top-notch experience. We were very pleased with the restaurant selection as well as the shopping right there at the resort. Because the resort isn't right on Lake Tahoe, I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have a vehicle at your disposal. The resort is also very close to Truckee to the north, which is a fun little town for shopping and dining. I can't wait to come back to this resort when I visit Lake Tahoe again.

4 Star Lake Tahoe Hotel Guide

If you're looking for a major outdoor destination that bustles with activity throughout the year, look no further than Lake Tahoe. This picturesque region nestled on the California-Nevada border is a veritable haven for skiers, snowboarders, hikers, boaters, and golfers, among other enthusiasts. You'll find no shortage of 4-star hotels near Lake Tahoe that will cater to your needs during your stay.

    History & Transportation

Lake Tahoe has been a popular tourist destination since the 19th century, when its natural beauty was discovered by European explorers and miners who came to California seeking gold. Today, the major landmarks in the region include Tahoe City and Squaw Valley. Once a logging and hunting outpost, Tahoe City is now a vacation town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and stores, while Squaw Valley has transformed into a major ski resort. Many well-to-do travelers fly into the Reno airport before renting a car or taking a taxi to one of the 4-star hotels on Lake Tahoe. If you're renting a car during winter, make sure that you have snow chains in your car in case of heavy snowfall.

Things to Do & Best Times to Visit

Lake Tahoe is a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts in the western U.S. and around the world. As such, you can rent or purchase skiing and snowboarding equipment in stores throughout the region. However, there's no shortage of activities during summer either, with hiking, camping, canoeing, and horseback riding all on the agenda. Fatigued from a day on the slopes? Crash at one of the Lake Tahoe 4-star hotels, then head to the California town of South Lake Tahoe. You'll find restaurants offering hearty American fare, as well as a few casinos up the road in Nevada where you can responsibly try your luck.

Travelocity is committed to helping you find the best prices on Lake Tahoe hotels. If you find a better deal somewhere else, let us know and we'll match it and refund the difference. That's our price guarantee.
