"The reviews of this place are incredibly polarizing. Some people think it is the worst place they have ever seen. Others think of it as a twee little time capsule, an example of the pocono mountains in their former glory. The truth is a bit in between, though it is, in cat the worst place I have ever stayed. (And I am a sucker for cheap motels) You can see evidence of its former glory. It seems kinda clean, but it is very run down. Whoever runs this place has done a number of shoddy repairs. That makes it seem dirtier and harder to clean. Nothing is new. There are extension cords visible in the hallway. The weirdest thing is that my room had an old rate card pasted to the back of the door. It appeared at least 40 years old. The quotes room rate on the card was $145. I paid $80. This place is running on fumes"

"I have been around the Lake Wally/Hawley + area for 40yrs (first owning a small summer place on the lake & as a local camp nurse for 20yrs), I always wanted to stay at Settlers--dined there many times--visited the gift shop, even looked into the rooms--finally got the chance--Wonder/Beautiful/Tranquil/Unique!!!"

"Check-in was terrible; we stood in line for 45 minutes to check in. The room was clean except for a couple of rose petals that must be from the previous occupants. The game room token machine did not work, so we could not play some games. Dinner was horrible, limited choices, which I did not mind, they were not prepared well. Salmon and chicken were in water, the steak was tough, and they should have trimmed all that extra fat. Entertainment and recreation were good."
