Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). The interior of this lovely home has been fully renovated and has all new furnishings, flooring, bedding, paint, and appliances, with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio, and you can check out the Cape Hatteras lighthouse during your stay. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

Great location and house was great

House was as described except roomier than expected. The extra closets and pantries were very helpful for storing our stuff. The beach access was excellent but be sure to verify whether the .3 miles south are still closed, or if they opened back up. Front yard was ok for the pup but avoid the backyard due to cacti and other prickly plants.

Love the location!

Great stay, lovely location whit an awesome view of the lighthouse. However, I do have a few things I need to express. #1 The pool isnt even in the same town, so that is kind of misleading. And #2 , while my stay there was wonderful, I didnt see my one key rewards increase at all. Maybe it was because VRBO wasnt the actual managing company but Vacasa was? Not sure. And #3 , There was a few wasp nests on the back porch/deck. I was attacked once and sustained 5 stings. The maintenance.people came out and took care of the nest that was involved in my event, however, maintenance should have checked the rest of the house before leaving as there were at least 2 more nests. And lastly, the range hood needed replaced. It was kind of old and had some mildew up inside of it. All in all though it was a great stay and even with the few MINOR issues we had, We booked the same house next year for more days. Great place to kick back and relax. Also, do some research into the history of the neighborhood. INTERESTING!!!
