Topanga Hotel & Travel Guide
Topanga is a small, eclectic community tucked in a scenic canyon between the Pacific coast and the sprawling San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, California. Topanga State Park, the largest park in the wildlife-rich Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, is just one of the appealing features of this delightful destination. Book hotels in Topanga, and enjoy a peaceful location that feels far from the crowds of the city yet is within easy reach of beaches and urban attractions.
Visiting Topanga
The easiest way to get to Topanga hotels from Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR) is renting a car. Eleven car rental companies operate at the airport's Regional Intermodal Transportation Center, accessible from the terminal via an elevated moving walkway. Other options include shared van services, which you need to arrange in advance, and taxis. Topanga rental cars are also the best way to see the sights. Local attractions include Topanga State Park, which features more than 30 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, and the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, an outdoor theater venue known for its productions of Shakespeare plays. Despite its seemingly secluded location, Topanga has a convenient road link (Topanga Canyon Boulevard/State Route 27) to both the coast and the San Fernando Valley, along with major freeways that connect it with destinations throughout LA. State Route 27 meets the Pacific Coast Highway at Topanga Beach, a sandy, family-friendly beach with lifeguards and concessions. Drive north up the PCH to Malibu or south to Santa Monica, where you can enjoy the amusement park on the pier or go shopping along the lively Third Street Promenade. Hotels near Topanga also put you close to the Getty Villa in neighboring Pacific Palisades. The beautiful property offers ocean views and a remarkable collection of ancient Greek and Roman antiquities.
