"Read the fine print regarding your discounted room"
The hotel itself was great - I had stayed there before - that's why I chose to stay there this time. The hotel is a high-rise with spectacular views in all directions - and of course it's right there next to Universal Studios - where I was taking my daughter - as a single parent- for the trip of a lifetime to Universal Studios and Disney. Unfortunately I had no idea that in Travelocity's room description term "Room, Accessible, Bathtub" meant for the room advertised- that this would only be limited to the first three floors of the Hilton only -and no view that I hoped to share with my daughter on her first trip to Los Angeles. This is what the check-in staff relayed to me when I asked for a room on higher floors. The view, and the hotels proximity to Universal Studios were the reason I chose this hotel/deal, given a cost that is normally out of my price range. This made for a very disappointing stay - feeling that we were second class at Hilton.

"A+ Location and Service"
The hotel is being renovated. From 8am to 7pm, expect construction noises. But if you're just looking for a place to crash between park visits, this is a good choice. The breakfast buffet is top quality and the staff aim to please. We charged two of our breakfasts on our credit cards, but the manager comped the other breakfast because of the horrendous wait for an elevator (21 floors can cause an elevator jam) and comped our one room service because of the 9:30pm and midnight fire alarm tests. I believe that night should have been comped as well. He said using Travelocity meant he couldn't comp any of our pre-paid visit. He said he did what he could. The Sheraton is a nice hotel. Our room (410) was clean and not yet remodeled. After the renovations are completed in September, I believe this hotel will be A+. I would like to come back and see.

"Super quiet hotel for travelers"
A great hotel if all you need is a clean bed and clean bathroom. When I arrived I was given room 6xx, which looked fine initially until I took off my shoes and walked to the bathroom and my socks got soaked. The carpet outside the bathroom was flooded. I called the front desk and within minutes someone came up with a new key to a new room. The new room was very clean. The walls are covered with a fine see through curtain. Double pane windows made the room very, very quiet. The bed was fabulous. Great mattress, soft, clean, thick sheets. I slept 14 hours, but halfway through the night I woke up cold. Turns out the heating was only spewing out unheated air. I turned it off and went back to sleep. The shower was very, very anemic. If you're looking for hot, luxurious showers this is not the place for you. All in all, a great place for an exhausted traveler. Never heard a noise. Everything clean. Front desk staff so, so. The airport shuttle left in the morning without making an announcement in the lobby and stranded for a half hour. Nobody cared. Shuttle driver surly. At best. I'd still stay there, but don't look for great service.

"Cancelling a Travelocity reservation is incredibly"
The hotel was nice, the staff was friendly and helpful. I had made a three day reservation, but for health reasons needed to cancel the last two days of my stay. The hotel staff showed me that I would be able to obtain a refund for the last two days as my cancellation was made in plenty of time. However, I was informed that since I made reservations through Travelocity, I would need to contact Travelocity and that company would then need to contact the hotel which would confirm that a refund would be promptly made. For several days now, I have been trying to contact Travelocity. I have written emails and was instructed to call on the telephone. I did so, and the recorded instructions told me the wait time would be less than two minutes. I waited more than 40 minutes and still no operator answered the phone. I again emailed Travelocity. I have yet to receive confirmation that the refund will be made. The lack of service from Travelocity makes me question whether not I will ever use that company again to make a hotel reservation.

Universal City Hotel & Travel Guide

Not every film studio can lay claim to its own zip code, but Universal Studios – the owner and centerpiece of 415-acre Universal City in California – has exactly that: zip code 91608. The "city" contains Universal's studio, sets, and back lots; a theme park; and a shopping and entertainment center. There are even a couple of hotels in Universal City, so it's easy to imagine that flights to Los Angeles – which surrounds Universal City – really are transporting you to a distant land of magic and wonder.

Out and About in Universal City

There are three main attractions in Universal City: the studio's theme park, with its thrill rides and shows; the actual film studio, sets, and back lots; and Universal CityWalk. CityWalk houses an eclectic selection of stores, bars, and nightclubs with everything from live music to theater acts, and indoor skydiving. Vacation packages to Universal City will get you to your hotel, where you can ask about perks like early admission to theme park attractions. As long as you're staying in Universal City, you can get around just fine without a rental car: There's a Metro stop right on the edge of the city limits. If the cheap hotels in Universal City are all full, you can access others just a stop or two away on the metro.

    Eating and Drinking

Universal City hotels put you within a quick, easy walk of almost 30 restaurants, ranging from fast food chains and pub-style food to Brazilian and Latin cuisine. Of course, there are a few Hollywood-themed restaurants as well. If you're looking for drinks, the Universal City nightlife is all outsized Hollywood glamour, with rocking live music, mechanical bull rides, and drinks as big as your head. Don't forget the all-important VIP membership, too – after all, this is Hollywood.

Download the Travelocity mobile app and book your Universal City hotels today. Our mobile app gives you access to exclusive travel deals that you won't find anywhere else.
