The bell hop and valet staff were so incredibly rude. I have honestly never encountered anything like it. Despite me asking the bell hop to assist with our bags, they pushed a luggage cart towards us and let me push all our luggage to our room while they leant against the counter and watched. I am h sure what these employees are being paid for. If I was the owner, I would not want these people to be working in hospitality.

Good walking distance from everything
Hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice. Only gripe I have is that they do charge a $200-$250 deposit that I wasn’t aware of. Granted this deposit was for the hotel in case we damaged the room or used the valet parking (which we did) and is 100% refundable. Just would have been nice to know of before hand so I knew what to expect when checking in. Besides that though everything else was great!

Classic Charm in a Great Location
The Westin is formerly the St. Claire, an iconic downtown hotel in San José. The style and architecture are pure charm and the location downtown is perfect for the theater, restaurant, and Shark Tank community. Our room was excellent, bed was great, and shower was good. Staff was courteous and welcoming. We ate at Il Fornio, which is an excellent restaurant in the building. Original Joe's is just next door. Overall,a very pleasant stay and I would recommend the Westin.

Needs a Serious Update/Rude Valet/ Uncomfortable
This place is in serious need of an upgrade. It just says "old" and "outdated" everywhere. From the too small elevators (one that was kind of janky), the furniture in the rooms, it's just in need. Maybe Westin/Marriot is planning on one. I sat in a very old uncomfortable desk chair in my room and was so low in relation to the desk that I couldn't do any work. I opened the elevator once to a service cart that was unattended. That's a first. Valet service was particularly bad. We told the attendant we needed our car... he kept organizing keys in his station for 10 minutes. We asked again and he said "I'm working on it!" NOPE. I would never repeat at this hotel. AVOID.
