"Room and service"
When we arrived at the hotel we were immediately greeted by a uniformed employee who asked if we needed help with our baggage. The front desk personnel were excellent and accommodated our request. The concierge were so friendly and helped us by booking up our tours, dinner reservations etc. They kept us informed constantly. The rooms were excellent and very comfy. The room was always kept clean and stocked properly with the shampoo, soap and especially the Kleenex box always maintained. More than enough towels compared to other hotels. I hate to call for more towels and other items, which should have been stocked properly. The hotel is right at the board walk with the docks right there, but was very quiet. I was surprised how clean the board walk had been kept up. I liked the idea of the police walking their beat on the board walk. I felt quite safe. I would difinately go back to this hotel with no hesitation.

"Historic but not luxury"
Visited during hot spell in San Francisco. Room uncomfortably hot despite ceiling fan and additional fan. There was no AC. Wi-fi required installation of a hot spot in order to work, with re-sign on required each time device turned on. Room was musty smelling. We stayed in Historic King with no view.

"Weekend getaway to SF"
Hotel is beautiful, modern, well equipped and in a great location for so many SF things. Cable car out front, covered area for can pick up, 3 blocks from BART, and with great views from the higher floors. Elevators afforded great Bay views above floor 15 (we were on 19.) Only complaint- we opted for the "green" deal where you don't get service from housekeeping or new linens etc in exchange for points or redeemable coupons. I called down for room coffee service the 2nd day so we'd have coffee when we woke up. They brought coffee only- no cup, sugar, stirrer, creamer etc. next day requested enough supplies to do coffee for let 2 days and listed out cup, lid, etc. Not even close. Had to get at least 5 visits from engineering, housekeeping and bellman to get coffee and coffee based accoutrements. Beyond that- great hotel only next time, no 'green' for me. Fresh linens and coffee daily.

This hotel was very different from what we used to staying in. It was very charming. Sharing a bath and shower wasn't as bad as think it would be. It is very centrally located and you can't beat the price. You park the car in the garage and never have to move it again. The staff was amazing!! I would definitely recommend it an stay there again.

"It was a great hotel but....."
The hotel itself is pretty good, nice rooms/bathrooms, Heather was especially nice, but that's where it ends for us. If you want to do ANYTHING other than shop, don't stay here. While the hotel itself is great, the area is just plain disturbing complete with every possible noise out the window from sirens to homeless people screaming in the night to daily dumpster unloading noises. No sleeping through the night here, period. There is absolutely no possibility that you will find any relaxation of any kind here. If you walk down the street, you will always be looking over your shoulder to see who's right behind you and what they're doing? Riddled with homeless people everywhere, perpetually asking you for money(and argumentative when you don't produce). After staying here, my image of SF has literally been shattered. I won't be going back for anything leisure ever again. Wow, what happened to San Francisco?
