This hotel has a lot going for it: plenty of free garage parking; tidy, comfortable rooms equipped with microwaves & mini fridges; a rooftop pool; friendly staff; easy access to Lady Bird Lake; and, proximity by automobile to Austin highlights such as South Congress Street, Terry Black's Barbecue, Sandy's & more.
I have a couple minor complaints, none of which should stop you from staying here. The television in my room hadn't been set up properly, so the channels didn't correspond to reality; the microwave & TV kept tripping the circuit breaker; some of the doors (to service areas, mostly) looked shabby; water pressure in my shower was good but not great.
I booked my room mid-flight en route to Austin after learning that my reservation at a South Congress motel had been "cancelled internally" six weeks earlier without notice, so I was nervous about finding a decent replacement. This hotel exceeded expectations.
You won't be able to walk to any attractions, other than LBL & a couple of excellent food trucks 50 feet away. But you won't get charged $50/day for parking, either. I will happily book here the next time I visit Austin.
