Way Over-rated as a Resort / SPA experience.

Pros: The Location was superb in the Sonora Desert. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Fire Pits and Outdoor furniture was nice
Cons: A walking path around the perimeter of the property.
Location: Fountain Hills Central Park offered a nice walking path around the lake. Spring training Baseball Games were fun.
I feel I was miss-lead by the advertising and descriptions provided by the web sites. I understand the Travel Industry tends to lean toward over stating the obvious occasionally, to promote the industry, but this is nothing more than a Quasi- Holiday Inn or Courtyard Marriott full service hotel with a nice Restaurant and a small Casino attached. It is really geared for Business Conferences offering Golfing Packages, with a Casino for inclement weather days and the locals. Speaking of the Casino, the proprietors/management of the Casinos must be living in cave somewhere in the desert. The entire Casino was smoker friendly, regardless of the signage and the policies. There were many incidences where I could have taken photos of ashtrays under or very close to No Smoking signage. The wait staff would empty the trays as if they belonged. What is really appalling, we had to sign a waiver at Check-In giving the management the right to charge $250 if we smoked in the room. Hypocrisy at its finest. Our Gambling experience was shortened by pounding headaches. The Rooms were simply adequate, not what we expected at a Resort. You can get the same room and amenities at any full service popular hotel franchise, without a bathrobe. Management should provide a designated space for parking the Service Golf Carts near the entrance instead of parking them on the sidewalks where people are supposed to walk to enter the Hotel.

Charged my bank account $94, when I prepaid! Took 2 days to refund. 50 dollar incidental fee was cleared up according to the hotel the very next morning but I called my bank and they did not refund it on the hotel end. Kept calling hotel left voice mail with no return call, management said that account department had to do it but this woman did not return my phone call before she went home. It has been about 4 days now.

Excellent choice for couples and golfers

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant is packed and clearly not enough wait staff... But the food, when it arrives, is good. Cannot beat the free unlimited bottled water available at the front desk! Good choice for couples and golfers. Golf courses are in awesome condition and welcomes ladies.

Great place but service was disappointing

When asked if the front desk had a phone book the answer was no, really? When asked if the front desk knew of a place that would deliver pizza, they said they would check and get back to us. and never did. When we asked if the Concierge was available we were told she was suppose to be here and she might come tomorrow. We saw her once in the 8 days we were there. The service at the restaurant was under staffed, or our waitress was inexperienced I am not sure. I asked the bellhop to assist us when leaving he never came. Our room needed to have the carpet vacuumed, which the staff took care of. We payed almost 300. a day, no breakfast included just a hotel room.It was a Beautiful place to bad! Not to say they don't have some good people working there but you have to look hard for them.

4 DIAMOND Hotel?

I booked this hotel for one night for a celebration with my friend. The experience I had at Radisson Fort McDowell fell way short of my expectations of a 4 diamond hotel, which is the only reason I chose to stay there. First the good: The valet was friendly The room was clean The sleep-number beds were comfortable Then the bad: The service at the front desk was appalling at check-in and check-out I am not convinced they have a maintenance staff due to: -broken mini-fridge -broken patio screen (see photo) -broken patio table I am so disappointed with the stay and management did nothing to try to resolve my concerns. When I brought them up to the management, they offered me a half-hearted apology which essentially said they would try harder next time. That would be fine if I ever intended to stay at this hotel again, which I don't. Furthermore, I would probably not stay at another Radisson again due to the apparent lack of care for customer service issues.

Would stay again

Pros: Quiet
We have stayed at this hotel twice now, very nice, clean, comfortable rooms. We get the bottom floor so we can sit out in the nice desert landscape. Check in is always fast and friendly. We did eat at the cafe in the casino on our last visit, it was average food. On this visit we looked at the buffet in the casino and it did not look appealing to us so we ate elsewhere. Next time we will try the resturant outside the hotel. There is also a nice pool bar we are looking forward to visiting also.

Great Stay-comfortable

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Stayed here on business and enjoyed the stay. Clean, comfortable, nice pool area with bar. Casino (which was a separate building) was real smokey, but the sushi bar was awesome.

pretty darn good but not great...

...this hotel is a very good bargain for the price, let me begin with that however from what I've seen over the past three days it doesn't quite rise to that "4 star" type level, it's close but not quite there. The pool is great but I've yet to see the advertised bar open at any point and have twice been moved from my spot on the far end of the pool so they could set up for another "event". Was told room service would deliver drinks to the pool but this took about 30 min. The staff seems very helpful, just maybe a bit understaffed. The restaurant will set you back $* but the food was really good as was the service there, go at least once. Another however though, if you want to eat somewhere else there are very limited options short of the 25 minute drive to Scottsdale. The casino is just okay, a bit older but serves it's purpose well enough. Long and short of it....I would recommend this hotel with the caveat that you are interested in staying mainly close to the hotel to sunbathe and gamble. If your plans are more to tour the valley (Scottsdale, Phoenix, etc.) there are other places that may not have the same "visual appeal" as Fort McDowell but will be more convenient closer to Scottsdale or Phoenix. Just for full disclosure my visit was in late March and was during the week rather than the weekend so that may have affected what services were available.

Wonderful Stay

We were at the Radisson for four nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay except for all the rain! When we checked in the person at the desk was very friendly and gave us our choice of floors to stay on - gave us a beautiful room with the view of the mountains. The room was very clean and all in all, very quiet at night. We liked having the casino next door to go to for a few hours at a time and ate most of our meals over there - very reasonable and very good. We would definitely stay here again on another visit - was close to where we needed to be and seemed to be very easy to get around. We found the whole staff to be very courteous and friendly.
