Don't even think about it

Pros: location
Cons: everything. Fire staff, start over. Rip out entire interior walls of hotel, start over. How about a hot water heater for the guests?
Location: Cal, San Fran, Berkeley
This is my third Graduate experience (Oxford, Charlottesville) and this place shouldn't be allowed to use the name. Horrible, tiny hallways and a tiny, tiny room, with a tiny, dated bathroom. NO HOT WATER, and not much of a reaction or apology from the front desk when we reported it. worst hotel experience we've had, start to finish, since I got out of college in 1982.

Still under construction.

Pros: The location is very convenient for the Berkeley campus, where I attended a concert.
Cons: The staff need to understand how inconvenient everything is while remodeling is going on.
The construction process is still causing disruption and inconvenience to residents. The restaurant is closed, registration is in a room off the street, lobby toilets are in the construction crew's portapotties out the back. There was no soap or supplies of any kind in the bathroom.

The hotel was interesting...Quite a TRIP!!!

Pros: interesting place
Cons: Poor breakfast
We were from Reno going to the Nevada Wolfpack game against Berkeley. The info on the hotel said it was a great place to go for the games and the the burgers were delicious etc. The site should have told us the place turns into a Frat House on game day. All the furniture is removed from the lobby for standing room only, my flip flops were sticking to the beer on the floor. We enjoy a good time and did like the place we just freaked out a bit when they asked if we reserved a parking place. Since we were staying at the hotel we assumed we would be able to park there, after talking to a few people they did find as a space for$50. we do not mind paying to park but we should have been warned that we would not have a spot. Next time we will stay in a hotel by the Marina....but is was quite a TRIP!

Staff made all the difference.

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: Noisy
Great staff. That alone will make me come back. Room was ok, bed was great. Thin walls but with the fans in the room that could be overcome.

The service is absolutely horrible!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy, lousy customer relations
I had booked a deluxe double a few weeks before the reservation and received a confirmation that everything was all set. Just to be sure, I called about an hour before arriving. I called from a friends house, where I would have stayed had I know what I would be faced with. When I called the phone rang for about 3 min before it was answered. The person answered with a muffled hello, which sounded to me like a kid answering the phone. I had to ask if this was the hotel Durant. The answer was a less than confident yes. The person then seemed to become more professional and informed me that no more parking existed and that I would have to park on the street (hopefully). When I arrived the man behind the desk said that the notes on my file said that I had called earlier, to which I said yes. Then he told be that there were no more double doubles, but I might be able to get a roll away bed. This was a serious problem, since I was traveling with my wife and two children. Regardless, I had to raise a big stick, just to get I was confirmed for. This experience is worse than any I have every had interacting with an employee. He finished by being upset and insulting to me, since I stuck up for myself. I feel this type of employee should be fired on the spot. The poor service continued for the next two days, but you get the idea. I would advise booking your Berkeley travel elsewhere.

Never would I stay there again.

Cons: Nothing close, Noisy, fuses blow when you plug in a computer, moldy and musty
They do not have air-conditioning and there are no screens on the windows. This means that you have to keep your window open and let the bugs in. That wouldn't be so bad, but they have a bar in the hotel and lots of college kids in the neighborhood. Sence your window has to be open you get no sleep with all the crazy drunk people yelling outside ALL night. There is mold growing every where and the fuses for the electricty kept blowing every time we plugged in our laptop. No way would I let my friends stay there and I will never stay there again either.

Great Old Landmark, very well maintained.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Very comfortable spot in a perfect location....for attending an event at Cal or having that feeling of going back to the collegiate environment with a huge upgrade from the dorm. Very cool people at the front desk always willing to help out. Lots of opportunity to get on lobby pcs with printer.
