The ocean view was amazing. The room was super clean and quiet. Not once was I awoken from strange noises. We loved the remodeled bathroom with the funky heated mirror! The bed was absolutely perfect and so comfortable we wanted to take it home. Five stars goes to the wonderful staff here. From check in to check out we were greeted and welcomed. This certainly a place I’ll be checking into again.

Weekend escape

Great ocean front location. Convenient to a variety of shopping and restaurants. Our room was perfect for a short weekend getaway. It was very clean and they accommodated our request. Check in was quick and the staff were friendly. Will definitely stay with them again when in the area.

A beautiful, elegant hotel with 10 star service.

The hotel was spotless. My room was outstanding. The view from my balcony was breathtaking.. There was always somebody in the hallway cleaning the floors. The elevator was spotless. Never have I seen a Beach hotel with five star service like The Shelby. Every staff member would greet me and say good morning or good afternoon. I hope you’re having a pleasant day. The pool, beach and parking are footsteps away from your room. My dog felt like a star in this hotel because everybody loved her.

The staff welcomed us with lots of love and respect. We love that they are pet-friendly, and everywhere you go, you can take your dogs with you. There is a beautiful view of the beach, and the vibe was just amazing!

(good food) Other thing I would recommend is literature, maps of streets, restaurants, activities nearby, there was nothing in the rooms. This property served as a nice getaway for me, my wife and my daughter. We are from the north and have never been to the beach in the south. The pool was extremely enjoyable for all of us (especially my 6 year old daughter) and was so warm. Staff had towels available for the patrons at the pool as well. We could see the ocean from our room as well. The ocean is certainly different to what we’re used to, so you might want to bring water shoes if you’re going to be going into the ocean, since the shells are everywhere. Restaurants, arcades and shops are all readily available and in walking distance. I was also easily able to go on runs whilst feeling incredible safe. Prices for everything, including the hotel were incredible reasonable. I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and kind. We will visit again.

The hotel was in great shape, very clean and new. The food and drink options were a disappointment. Our breakfast order was totally wrong and then once re-made was partial cold and partial burned. Then at the pool the outdoor bar was not open and pool service was very spotty and slow, so we had to walk to the restaurant to get drinks everytime. Lastly there was no iron in the room, we asked at the front desk and was told one would be sent. After 3 hours we called to check and were told it would be right up. It never showed. Repeated the next day and finally complained at the front desk and the staff member (showing frustration) finally just handed us one. The hotel has the potential to be very good but the service side and food/beverage left a unfortunately bad impression.
