Compton is a city located on the south side of beautiful Los Angeles, California. Known as the "Hub City" due to its central location, Compton has a rich history beginning in 1784 when the Spanish Crown took over the plot of land. Look into Compton hotels before you go so you can be sure you have a great place to stay during your trip. There are plenty of cheap hotels in Compton and booking one means you'll have more to spend in nearby Los Angeles.
Compton has its own airport on the outskirts of town—the Compton/Woodley Airport. But if you're interested in staying in hotels in Los Angeles and driving out to Compton, you might prefer to fly into Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX. It's just about a 20 minutes' drive on the 105-W, and you can look into Compton rental cars to get around while you're in town. It's also possible to reach Compton by public transit from LAX. Take the Metro Green Line and then switch to the Metro Blue Line in Willowbrook. When you get in, check out some of the great restaurants along Rosecrans Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard. The Heritage House on Willowbrook is also worth a stop; it was built in 1869 and is the oldest house in Compton. And of course you'll want to drive into nearby Los Angeles to see some of the famous sights, like the Hollywood Hills, which many of the country's biggest celebrities call home, and the Walt Disney Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
If you're looking into hotels in Compton, check out Travelocity for great deals. You can save up to $537 when you book a hotel and flight at the same time. Then you'll be on your way to enjoying your dream vacation in southern California.
