Flight Review

Mar 18, 2020

My luggage was damaged on this flight. While I am happy with the customer service received at the airport, the care of the claim has been underwhelming. All I have received is an email asking for the information that had already been provided.

Mar 16, 2020

Seats on small plane very uncomfortable. Breakfast omelet and sausage were not good. Staff was very nice and friendly.

Mar 10, 2020

On my flight from DFW to PDX the free wi-fi was not working. That was disappointing. I heard others mentioning the issue on the plane as well.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Salem

If you like the thought of spending more time at the airport restaurants and less time wading through security on your way to Salem, just follow these handy tips:

  • Keep your passport and boarding pass within easy reach. They'll be the first things you'll be told to produce by airport security staff.
  • USB sticks, wallets and mobile phones should be placed in a tub for X-raying. If you enter the body scanner with any one of these items, you'll be requested to turn back and remove them.
  • Laptops must be removed from their carry bags and placed in a tub before being X-rayed.
  • When it comes to traveling with liquids and gels, each passenger is permitted a quart-sized clear zip-lock bag to transport containers no greater than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
  • Steel-cap footwear and other heavy shoes are usually X-rayed by airport security. It might be wise to wear lightweight sneakers instead.
  • Razors and knives are prohibited inside the aircraft. Stash them away in your checked luggage to avoid them being confiscated at the airport security checkpoint.

Flights To Salem

Flights to Salem, the capital of Oregon, are routed to the Portland International Airport (PDX), which is located just about an hour to the north. Nicknamed the "Cherry City" for its delicious local cherries, Salem sits right at the agricultural center of Oregon, with dozens of family farms growing everything from strawberries to hazelnuts in the fertile native soil. A vibrant city with a rich history and colorful local culture, Oregon's capital is not to be missed!

Transportation From PDX

Seeking Salem hotels? Several lodging options are conveniently located along NE Airport Way, which follows the banks of the Columbia River just to the east of PDX. This is a great gateway to both Portland and Salem, as well as the rest of the Willamette Valley region. Many local hotels provide courtesy vans to and from the airport, picking up passengers on the lower level outside baggage claim. You can also catch a cab in this area. For off-site rental car shuttles, pick-up is located along the lower roadway near the garage. There are also several on-site rental car companies for your convenience. A few long-distance shuttles can take you south to Salem, but your best bet is likely renting a car for a little more freedom of movement. Travelers fresh off their Salem flights can take a breather at the hotel before enjoying a stroll through scenic Riverfront Park or exploring history at the Willamette Heritage Center.
