"I booked for location. The hotel was clean and convenient near St. Lawrence Market. When i read reviews people stated it was a safe area. I would like to warn people that it is next door to the homeless shelter and we did encounter some drug users. It was a solid budget friendly option to staying downtown. The safety didn't affect our stay and we walked everywhere with our teens, but I would have rather known what I was getting into before seeing it out my window. I may have then splurged on a safer option if I had known. Toronto itself feels like a fairly safe city so it depends on your comfort level."
