"I really wanted to like this place. From the photos, it looks like a desert oasis. In reality? More like a “has potential, but no one’s checked on it since 2007” situation. Let’s start with the room… “Worn” would be generous. The carpet looked like it had lived a full and complicated life and was ready for retirement. The back of the toilet was cracked (always comforting), the shower was rough, and the tile work was a mix of broken and stained. Even the bedding had seen better days. The overall vibe was somewhere between “dated” and “this room has definitely hosted a few questionable life decisions.” Sleep situation (aka unexpected midnight entertainment): Our 11- and 12-year-olds took the hide-a-bed, which—surprise!—started folding up on them in the middle of the night.
