"We loved the resort. Beautifully decor, ambitious, very spacious and large. The quality of the food was great. The staff was very friendly and always smiling and helpful. There were a couple of things we were not happy with and it was the sales people always trying to sale timeshares to the point that we were even woken up to the phone aggressively ringing until we answered and the seaweed on the beach."

"Pros- great location two blocks from 5th Ave, food was good and gorgeous hotel. Rooms are well appointed and lots of room. Staff was nice but not always helpful with requests. Cons: elevators out for a while now so stairs the entire trip. We asked for more pillows didn’t get them, asked for AC to be turned down took multiple calls to get it done. Needed to break some American bills down and they said they could but nobody would when we went to the person we were directed to. Hotel beach over run with massive amounts of seaweed that smelled horrible through resort. ( not hotels fault) just a note."

"Went with a big group to celebrate a birthday. Made dinner reservations and once everyone was at the restaurant was told they couldn’t accommodate everyone. When we arrived the AC wasn’t working for hours! About three rooms doors were extremely hard to open. On our last night at one of the restaurants, we did not the cake that we ordered and paid for! Having flowers delivered for the birthday was beyond difficult as staff did not want delivery drivers to enter the hotel. It was low season and we were celebrating a 15 year old birthday. They could have definitely done better to be more helpful. Super disappointed on the service and unfortunately will not be coming back."

What really stood out was the exceptional service. A special thank you to Selene at the breakfast buffet, who always greeted us with a smile and made our mornings enjoyable. Ileny at the pool provided outstanding service and was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. We also had a great time with Gabriel from the entertainment team—he brought so much energy and fun to the daily activities! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some areas of the hotel feel a bit outdated and could benefit from renovations. However, the excellent staff and beautiful resort amenities more than made up for it. Overall, we had a great vacation and would recommend Barceló Maya Beach to families and anyone looking for a getaway with kids in the Riviera Maya."
