The room has a very musty smell. The bathroom light has a fan attached and it becomes very annoying when just using the mirror or sink.

Best kept secret.

I almost hate to let the secret out! Great hotel for a great price and it’s exactly where you want to be to walk to key places in DC. I’ll certainly stay here again.

Just what I was looking for

Pros: Location was almost ideal, great value, safe and comfortable
Cons: Lobby was musty and old, and the only ice/vending/microwave is down there. But the rooms are new and nice
Location: Very close to McPherson Square Metro and several BikeShare stations, and an easy walk to Convention Center, White House, National Mall, and museums
If you're looking for swanky and posh, with all the amenities of a fine downtown hotel, then look elsewhere. I wanted a safe and comfortable room at a good price near the Convention Center, and was really pleased by the Architect. It was JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR--no more, but no less. The room was small and simply appointed, but attractive, comfortable, and quiet. Located near a DC Metro station, a Capital BikeShare stand, and a short walk to the Convention Center, it was easy also to get to all the DC attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful. Yes, I missed having a pool, a fitness center, a complimentary breakfast, and some other perks, but there are lots of places to grab food nearby, and the shower and AC were more than adequate to help me cool off at the end of a long day of walking and biking. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel takes advantage of its old world charm. The decor is very classic 1900’s DC and enjoyable. Things to be mindful of, when you enter the hotel you have to walk down a small flight of stairs.. I mention this because those of us with luggage, its a pain coming in and going out. The staff is friendly and allowed me to check my bags when I arrived well before my room was ready. The bed was comfy, and the room was clean.. The rooms are small but once again, I wanted a little old world charm.. The bathrooms are a nice size and the showers do take a few additional minutes to warm up. (Did I mention old world charm?) The city noise was a little much for me. I asked some co workers who stayed at another hotel in the same area and they both commented that they could hear the city also. So that is no dig on this hotel. But if you are looking at staying in this area of DC be ready to hear some city noise. All in all this is a great place to stay if you want to be close to The Mall area. Plenty of food options are available within walking distance along with a 7-11 and a CVS for any other needs that may come up. For the price it was a fabulous deal. If you want all of the amenities of todays hotels this probably isn’t for you. But then again you’ll also have a higher price point.

Location & Friendly Staff

The location of the hotel is very central. But more importantly, we were greeted by very friendly staff, especially Eka, who was most accommodating. If you are looking to be close to the Hill and are on a budget, this is the place. Not fancy but good.

Convenient, clean, has problems.

Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: Attach the bed to the headboard/wall.
There is no in-room coffee. The lobby coffee urn was not ready until 8:30 AM on a Friday morning, and on other days ran out. The room has vinyl floors and the bed was on a frame with wheels but not attached to the wall. Sit up in bed reading or watching TV and the bed slides away from the headboard.

Room clean

The room was very clean and housekeeping did a good job cleaning it each day. The room however was small with minimal storage. There was a closet but no furniture with drawers. There was no refrigerator nor microwave. I also had to pay a $100 deposit a check in for any possible damages. The window had a crack in it when I went to the room and this was immediately reported as I didn't want to be made responsible for that damage. The overall experience was good. Checking in and checking out process were simple and fast. Lots of restaurants around. Within walking distance to metro subway, bus stops and attractions such as the White house.

Good location.

Pros: Staff and location. Cleanliness. Small room. Not all the amenities like coffee pot in room. But available in lobby. Simple but CLEAN.
Cons: My room would have been too small for a family.
Location: About .7 mile from National Mall. Can see everything by walking. OR 2 blocks from Metro station. Can get from airport to hotel on Metro.
In walking distance to all sites near Capitol. Clean. Courteous and helpful staff. A bit of history to the building. Near restaurants. Stayed for the DC Marathon and was a perfect location.
