Very dirty hotel. The first day the room had hair on the floor and in the shower drain. The beds had tucked in sheets in lieu of bedspread. The walls were covered with smears from who knows what. The drywall was cut out in many places for repairs and broken from door knobs. I tried calling the service desk on multiple occasions with no answer. The fake wood grain on the bathroom cabinets was peeling off. The sink knobs had missing fixture components. The maintenance people had to come into my room early in the morning to make repairs as the toilet was leaking onto the unit downstairs. The pillow cases were coming apart and there was left over trash and mop head strings under the bed. The out dated purple carpet on the stairs was filthy and the elevator tracks hadn't been clean in years. The District Hotel was a very bad experience. I can understand the building is old and very much dated but there is no excuse for being dirty. No pride taken in this establishment.

I wanted to like it...

The staff was helpful and accommodating of my request to switch rooms. The first was spartan and musty. The second room was much bigger but still damp and smelled musty. I liked that it was an older place and it was a great location (what’s not to love about a Shake Shack on the corner and a Starbucks a block away?), tucked into a nice, eclectic neighborhood community. I felt safe walking alone, even at night. Overall, I did not feel that the hotel room was clean and the damp odor might have contributed to this.. I feel like this place is a diamond-in-the-rough and that minor improvements would go a long way. The price was very affordable for DC. I got what I paid for.

Old hotel but well maintained. Good staff. Good price for a hotel centrally located in the city. NOTE* This review is for the Bier Baron hotel, not the District Hotel. District Hotel had suffered a power outage and they booked us at the Bier Baron instead. Comparable room and location. Cons: Very small elevator; two of us with luggage (one medium bag and one carry-on bag each) were crammed in there. Room was a bit small for the two beds. Not easy to move around in. A bit of a long walk from the closest Metro station. Pros: Good price for hotel in the city. Nice little bar in the hotel. Comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Safe and secure. Friendly staff. Very close to Embassy Row.

Though an older facility it was kept well and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great location. Beware of parking along the street as city signs can be confusing and cost you a ticket. Hotel staff helped explain the issues with parking which helped greatly.

Clean and Comfortable

Location: within 2 miles or less of the Mall, the memorials, downtown etc.
Only one issue: there is no internet connection in the rooms. Every thing else is fine, it's very clean and comfy and the location is close by everything.

The worst hotel I ever stayed in.

Everything was dirty, smelled bad. Walls were paper thin, loud TVs all night, I can hear the neighbors having sex, and smoking. I would not recommend this hotel, even if it was for free.

Nice hotel in great location of Washington DC

Pros: Short cab ride to any attraction.
Cons: My only personal things were: The shower was really small and hard to work with. They put my room right next to the elevator so every time someone u
Location: Could walk to stores, whole foods and restaurants. The restaurants within a block radius were very good. 3 Coffee Shops within a block
The hotel for the low amount of money I spent was excellent. Room was very nice and clean. Beds were double sheeted and very nice with extra pillows. In great location of Washington DC. Very pleased with it.

This hotel was garbage

Worst hotel I have every been in, we paid for a king size bed and they tried putting us in a double full size bedroom I asked to see the room before he continued to check us in and I was apauled by the condition of the room, it smelled like wet moldy carpet and it was disgusting. I've stayed at a motel 6 before and paid half of what I was gonna pay for this room and this place made a motel 6 look great. Needless to say we canceled our reservation here and went somewhere else.
