Good Hotel

"good reasonable hotel"
Hotel seemed different, it had changed management-no longer as 'quirky' as I remembered. Reasonable room, price/quality adequate (this is San Francisco and it was considered high season).'

"High Rise South of Market"
This is a modern, big hotel. It is very nicely appointed if you like modern decor. There are clean lines everywhere. It could be considered somewhat generic. The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. The elevators were spectacularly quiet.

Hotel Del Sol, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel

3100 Webster St, San Francisco - Map
"Great location for family visit."
This spot is close to our children's apartment. It's perfect for a visit, with access to lots of restaurants and shopping. The motel style building is perfect for lots of comings and goings. No need to fuss with a hotel lobby, elevator and long hallways. It is not the kind of place we would ordinarily choose, since it is quite bare bones. But the location is great, and the room is comfortable for our purpose.

Aloft San Francisco Airport

401 E Millbrae Ave, Millbrae - Map
"Even a middle aged person like me enjoyed the vibe"
Aloft has a very young "vibe" to it -- clean lines, excellent tech access in the rooms, speedy wifi, lots of junk candy around, and a jazzy background music. I thought I might be turned off by it all, but Aloft also offers a deeply comfortable and relaxing experience. Even though I was at an airport hotel, close enough to see planes taking off nearby, I was never bothered by the noise. The bed was supremely comfortable, the shower effective, and the snacks for sale in the lobby met my needs. It's definitely at the top of my list when I'm next needing a hotel room.

It’s nice to have time to yourself while traveling. No one to bother you. No one to ask you pesky questions about your future goals. Just you and your own thoughts. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to have a friend along for the journey. A friend who never disagrees with you and thinks the universe revolves around you. One who can melt your heart with a stare from those puppy-dog eyes. And when you’re ready to take a trip, northern California’s most beloved city is perfect for the two of you. Go for a walk through Fisherman’s Wharf where the seals bark louder than your pooch and then ride the cables throughout town. Our dog friendly hotels in San Francisco like the Hotel Zephyr will be a safe haven to unwind after a long day running around the “City by the Bay.”

Can you swim in San Francisco Bay?

Yes, you can swim in San Francisco Bay and bring the dog. Don a pair of swimming trunks and make your way down to Aquatic Park Historic District and set up your beach camp in the sand. When you’re ready to get wet, wander into the man-made lagoon where you’ll be able to swim in the cool water alongside a steel-hulled full rigged ship called the Balclutha. Go for a few laps and let any stress you have drift away with the current.

It’s easy to swim around a man-made, protected lagoon. The water is calm and the current is minimal. But if you’re feeling extremely adventurous in the sense that you feel like freestyling in the open water of the bay, there are ways. There are a number of swim clubs located throughout the city that host Alcatraz swims year-round and they offer you a great way to test yourself against forces of Mother Nature. Two of the best known swims are put on by the Dolphin Club and the South End Rowing Club. Any advice on how to ride the trolley in San Francisco and is it pet-friendly?

The only way to ride the trolley in San Francisco is to get a pass and board one of the most iconic forms of public transportation—and yes, they are pet friendly. There are three different cable car lines you can take around the city:

    • The Powell-Hyde Line: Start on Market Street with a stop in Union Square. The Powell-Hyde takes you through the Russian Hill neighborhood and passes at the top of the topsy-turvy Lombard Street.
    • The Powell Mason Line: This runs through the North Beach neighborhood and passes at the bottom of Lombard Street. Plenty of photo opportunities abound.
    • The California-Van Ness Line: The third line runs east to west from the Financial District and cruises through Nob Hill. Hop off at the California Street stop and check out the Cable Car Museum.
