"Close to almost everything"
Hotel is in a great old building, Staff is very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and cozy, only complaint i would have would be radiator heater makes the room too hot, but that's what those old radiators do. Only 3 blocks from the cable car and a quarter mile or so from Market St and the Streetcars.

"Not Bad for the Price"
Hotel clerk was not very helpful and I didn't get a good vibe, like he didn't like me. I was friendly. Room was fairly clean, just a little mold in the tile grout. Bed was kind of hard. They only have 2 double beds or 1 King, no 2 queen rooms. No rollaway beds. Yuck! Grounds, hallways and lobby were pretty clean. For the price, an excellent deal around San Francisco. We will return considering the price.

"Fine hotel for the downtown area "
The hotel is located in the downtown 'but' on the edge of The Tenderloin. As long as you walk toward the main downtown area, it's a great location at a reasonable price. Staff was great and accommodating. Convenience store and Walgreen's across the street. Room was on the smaller side but totally adequate and comfortable. A little 'funky' in decor but certainly interesting and unique.

"Great Place to Stay just off Union Square"
We stay for a few days every year when we come for the San Francisco Ballet & San Francisco Symphony performance of The Nut Cracker. Rooms and bathrooms are on the small side but that's no issue for us. Short walk to China Town. Hotel Staff EXCELLENT and remember us even though we visit only once a year. Beware of Morton's next door.

Excellent Location, Great staff, Loved my view. I did not feel as though the room was too small, it was the perfect size for me. But I was disapointed in the care taken in room maintenance, and the toiletries. The bathroom looked dirty, due to stains on the wallpaper. I know they are stains, because I tried scrub them off as I was concerned that the bathroom had not been cleaned, there was a bit of hair in the Shower area as well. The toiletries were watered down, (ever try washing your hair with 50% shampoo,50% water mixture? Not so fun) I did mention the watered down shampoo to the front desk and they were happy to rectify.

"Adventures in San Francisco"
The Diva is close to Union Square, where you want to be. The staff is very courteous and helpful with recommendations and directions. The rooms and bathrooms are on the smaller side but remember this is an older building in SF as most hotels in the area are smaller in square footage. The best thing is there's a Starbucks right next door to grab a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich before heading out and sight seeing thru the city. It is a bit pricey for the size of the room your getting but otherwise if it really matters, there's also the Marriott, Westin and Sheraton close by.

"Room and service"
When we arrived at the hotel we were immediately greeted by a uniformed employee who asked if we needed help with our baggage. The front desk personnel were excellent and accommodated our request. The concierge were so friendly and helped us by booking up our tours, dinner reservations etc. They kept us informed constantly. The rooms were excellent and very comfy. The room was always kept clean and stocked properly with the shampoo, soap and especially the Kleenex box always maintained. More than enough towels compared to other hotels. I hate to call for more towels and other items, which should have been stocked properly. The hotel is right at the board walk with the docks right there, but was very quiet. I was surprised how clean the board walk had been kept up. I liked the idea of the police walking their beat on the board walk. I felt quite safe. I would difinately go back to this hotel with no hesitation.

"Very nice"
We went for our Grandson's Birthday. All other rated hotels in the area were $100.00+more due to sporting events. This included our hotel that we normally stay at. As a result, we will probably be changing to this hotel for our stays. It also has a full size refrigerator, a two burner stove, a microwave, and even a sink with a disposal. The only suggestion we can make is the bathroom needs a vent with a fan. Great stay. Jerry and Jerri

San Francisco Pet Friendly Hotel Guide

It’s nice to have time to yourself while traveling. No one to bother you. No one to ask you pesky questions about your future goals. Just you and your own thoughts. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to have a friend along for the journey. A friend who never disagrees with you and thinks the universe revolves around you. One who can melt your heart with a stare from those puppy-dog eyes. And when you’re ready to take a trip, northern California’s most beloved city is perfect for the two of you. Go for a walk through Fisherman’s Wharf where the seals bark louder than your pooch and then ride the cables throughout town. Our dog friendly hotels in San Francisco like the Hotel Zephyr will be a safe haven to unwind after a long day running around the “City by the Bay.”

Can you swim in San Francisco Bay?

Yes, you can swim in San Francisco Bay and bring the dog. Don a pair of swimming trunks and make your way down to Aquatic Park Historic District and set up your beach camp in the sand. When you’re ready to get wet, wander into the man-made lagoon where you’ll be able to swim in the cool water alongside a steel-hulled full rigged ship called the Balclutha. Go for a few laps and let any stress you have drift away with the current.

It’s easy to swim around a man-made, protected lagoon. The water is calm and the current is minimal. But if you’re feeling extremely adventurous in the sense that you feel like freestyling in the open water of the bay, there are ways. There are a number of swim clubs located throughout the city that host Alcatraz swims year-round and they offer you a great way to test yourself against forces of Mother Nature. Two of the best known swims are put on by the Dolphin Club and the South End Rowing Club. When you finally emerge from the chilly waters, what’s better than curling up with Spot back at one of our pet friendly hotels in San Francisco?

Any advice on how to ride the trolley in San Francisco and is it pet-friendly?

The only way to ride the trolley in San Francisco is to get a pass and board one of the most iconic forms of public transportation—and yes, they are pet friendly. There are three different cable car lines you can take around the city:

    • The Powell-Hyde Line: Start on Market Street with a stop in Union Square. The Powell-Hyde takes you through the Russian Hill neighborhood and passes at the top of the topsy-turvy Lombard Street.
    • The Powell Mason Line: This runs through the North Beach neighborhood and passes at the bottom of Lombard Street. Plenty of photo opportunities abound.
    • The California-Van Ness Line: The third line runs east to west from the Financial District and cruises through Nob Hill. Hop off at the California Street stop and check out the Cable Car Museum.

Do you know what would make your trip to The Paris of the West that much better? Bringing along your most-trusted four-legged friend. Travelocity’s great selection of San Francisco pet friendly hotels like the Handlery Union Square are more than suitable to keep you and your best friend cozy and comfortable. Just make sure you wear some flowers in your hair…or fur.
