"This place was such a blast. Beforehand, I kept getting worried because it seemed too good to be true: a giant room, facing the beach, high in a hotel tower, with a big pool, lazy river, hot tub, splash pad, multiple restaurants and free meals for kids – all within spitting distance of the beach. I called twice to confirm because I imagined getting there and the fantasy vanishing like a mirage. But it was all SO REAL. And better than imagined. This is nothing like your typical Holiday Inn. It truly is a resort. Some things you can't tell from the listing: EVERY room faces the beach with a balcony. The rooms are definitely larger than regular hotel rooms, with FULL SIZE fridges. Everything has been thought through – a mudroom type entrance to the room for dropping all your sandy stuff, the big fridge, the thoughtful storage, on and on. There is live music and activities for the kids every day (and yes, you can leave your kids with them). There is a small on-site store with a surprisingly comprehensive selection of things: beach toys, beer/wine, swimsuits, cigarettes – all at marked-up but not ludicrous prices. The beach is clean, soft, sugary white with typically calm waves. Resort employees are courteous and somehow always present without intruding in the slightest. The only slight downside is that the on-site restaurants are pricy, but you can make and bring your own food almost anywhere, and if you do eat at the restaurants, portions are large and yummy and kids eat free!"
